Our client in Crystal City, VA is looking for a STELLAR Traffic Manager with experience in Digital and Pre-press. If you are constantly multi-tasking and hands on then this is the job for you!


Job Description:
Manage production process for all marketing and advertising materials for the Creative Services team from job launch to final delivery. Acts as traffic manager for all projects, and as primary contact for workflow and tech support for project management system. Responsible for final delivery of all print and digital files.


Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manages all production activities for the Creative Services (CS) team to facilitate the production of all advertising and marketing collateral materials, including marketing website. Jobs average at about 160 jobs per month.

  • Communicate on a regular basis with the CS and Strategic Marketing teams to ensure all assets are in place when launching a job. This means making sure naming conventions for job titles are correct, creative briefs are included when necessary, the scope of the job is properly communicated, job pick up numbers are included if necessary, and identifying the nature of edits to pickup jobs and assigning either a designer or copywriter based on how extensive the changes are. For jobs with new concepts/new campaigns, work with internal client (marketing) to ensure that the jobs are submitted individually and advise on the turn around time for each job.

  • Manage and traffic workflow throughout the process. Notify creative and marketing teams on a daily basis on the status of each project. This will require re-scheduling and re-negotiating deadlines as scope of jobs change and deadlines change. Remind appropriate people when they “sit” on jobs to move the job forward. Set milestone deadlines for each project within project management system.

  • Set up files for prepress. Troubleshoot all production-related issues; develop workflow solutions for all projects at all levels of complexity.

  • Take ownership of pickup advertising for publications. Make minor text edits in indesign, and resize ad ensuring the ad maintains its integrity.

  • Set up files for prepress, and ensure files are optimized to meet print or digital specs, deliver in correct format and on time.

  • Responsible for managing proofs and final sign-off from the printer.

  • Monitor expenditures to keep within budget parameters.

  • Maintain the CS server, and the hardware and software for the CS team by working with IT and outside vendors.

  • Monitor postal requirements and ensure compliance to regulations.

  • Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


  • Job Requirements:
    5+ years print and digital production management experience in a marketing, agency, or other creative environment; advanced knowledge of pre-press standards and software; thorough knowledge of four-color printing process; experience in collecting, reviewing and sending files to professional printers, reviewing and approving proofs, and troubleshooting problematic files; thorough knowledge of digital optimization to support and deliver all digital projects, including marketing website, banner ads, etc.; excellent project management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments, complete projects on time and within budget; extensive knowledge of creative workflow process and the roles of copywriters, designers, marketers (client) in order to properly manage workflow; strong ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; experience creating tracking systems; excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels; knowledge of direct mail process and mailing list experience.
