Temp to Perm Lead Digital Designer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and talented Lead Designer to join a Multi-Channel Operations team within a big retail company.

You will be working for the client's multichannel platforms (Web, Apps, Print, Mobile devices and TV) in accordance with brand guidelines you'll design and manage the graphic content needed to make their interactive experiences better that all the rest. You will be responsible for the timely and accurate production and publication of design deliverables for the client's interactive and digital media.


Creating Visual Design for Multi-Channel
• Ownership and design of cross-platform creative - to design promotional content for key pages, promotional events, and platforms as assigned by the Design Manager e.g. Homepages, Promotional Event Content, Category Content.
• Designing compelling content – to create compelling graphic design and to structure interactive pages appropriately in order to comply with the technical, legal and quality developments affecting the platforms for which content is supplied e.g. W3C best practice, usability, accessibility, CSS, etc.
• Contributing to creative campaigns– to contribute design concepts and graphic design to campaign creative documents and cross-platform creative collateral - including store fronts and style guides.
• Designing project graphics – to design project deliverables according to business and project requirements as needed.
• Sourcing excellent photography – to work with the Packshot studio in the art-direction and acquirement of high quality imagery for interactive platforms.
• Production resolution – to deal with production corrections & short-notice updates with maximum speed & accuracy
• Producing social and editorial creative – working with Social Media Executive – support social media campaigns in the production of quality graphic design that is consistent with other platforms
• Publishing accountability - to be responsible for the accurate aggregation, delivery, and publication of approved content for interactive platforms
• Ensuring a high standard of design – to ensure a consistent standard and style for all assigned areas of work, to develop brand and style together with the Design Manager
• Working in cross-functional team - to work with other teams to ensure content contains compelling design that meets both creative and merchandising objectives

Design Leadership
• Art-direction and guidance – under the direction of the Design Manager - to guide and direct other designers, ensuring output is best in class, appropriate to category, and consistent with the brand guidelines.
• QA of assigned categories – to art-direct and QA key content produced by designers in conjunction with the Design Manager
• Understanding legal and standards compliance - to ensure output complies with company, industry and legal guidelines and regulations.
• Evolving user experience – through regular communication with the UX Team, and Design Manager - ensure that new creative content and visual design provides a high quality user experience cross platform
• Researching competitors - to stay up to date with commercial awareness of industry Design and its application - particularly with regards to usability, SEO, accessibility and community.
• Supporting team members – in conjunction with the Design Manager to help co-ordinate the training and development of more junior designers.

Knowledge, skills & experience
• Degree or equivalent in graphic design or other related subject
• Expert in graphic design, layout and typography; a flair for imaginative and compelling commercial design
• Experience as a senior/lead designer in an internet retail environment.
• Experience directing the work of designers to ensure a high standard of design
• Experience in helping to train/develop designers preferable
• Ability to prioritise and co-ordinate work to meet tight publication deadlines and style guidelines with fast content turnover
• Strong experience and evidence of creating compelling design for multiple platforms, but web experience essential
• Expert user of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Dreamweaver
• Strong Mac & PC literacy; including MS Office
• Prior experience of creating interaction and IA deliverables such as site maps and design documentation
• Experience of XHTML, CSS, JS and ability to hand code
• An understanding of web 2.0 technologies, accessibility standards and browser compatibility
• Prior experience of working with content management systems, blogging software and templates
• Avid attention to detail
• A pro-active and positive attitude
• Good team and interpersonal skills
