Technical Writer (Games)

Our client is passionate about building great game services that help thousands of game developers build better games. As a technical writer on the team, you’ll work with a stellar technical team in a cross-functional, distributed environment.

The client is deeply committed to be a leader in the cloud services marketplace, and one of the key measures of success is to support the vibrant game development community that uses their products. Technical writers play a vital role in getting customers up and running quickly, and ensuring that our products are clearly described in documentation that’s accurate and useful.

The ideal candidate has both a technical background that enables them to easily interact with software developers and creative game teams and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical documentation.

The key responsibility for technical writers is to independently develop and deliver documentation for cloud services, tools, SDKs, or API libraries. You’ll help lead our documentation efforts and assess and address customer feedback about our documentation and services.


Basic Qualifications
•A minimum of 3 years in a technical writing role
•Proven experience designing and delivering customer-oriented documentation
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Experience working directly with development teams
•Experience with an XML-based authoring system


Preferred Qualifications
•Experience with cloud services or game technology
•Experience with instructional design
•Previous experience working in an agile environment
•Passion to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
•Proven experience using and following the Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications (MSTP)
•A proactive and open-minded attitude to resolving problems and delivering results
•An undergraduate degree in Computer Science (or the equivalent), English, or related

We are launching a set of tools for game developers, and we will need technical writers to help with cleaning up the existing documentation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or related field; experience writing and editing documentation for a technical audience; experience using HTML and XML editing tools and content management systems; familiarity with software documentation style guides, such as MSTP; minimum of 3 years in a technical writing role; passion for games and building great game services for game developers.
