Technical Writer (Content Management)

Data Center Operations Standards and Infrastructure is the team behind the cloud. They are responsible for delivering over 200 web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. The team is responsible for setting the technical direction and reliability profile of our global data center facilities footprint. Working in lock-step with our online services development and operations team, DCO delivers aligned infrastructure architectures that contemplate system availability from the server through the network and data center up into the application stack.



Interact with Data Center Services teams as well as contractors and vendors to produce multiple types of professional writing, documentation to include but not limited to requirements and procedures, to ensure that data center designs and addendum’s are identified and updated, that quality services are delivered, and that internal customer demands are met. Work with management to organize existing documentation, identify deficiencies and prioritize solutions. Obtain information by interviewing and collaborating with our MCIO Engineering, Construction and Operations teams. Produce documents that can be understood by both technical teams and prepared for external publication. Be the designated contact for suggestions and updates to these documents. Perform business management and operations tasks to the support the team.


This is a position in two parts:

Technical Writer

  • Manage and maintain Requirements Document.
  • Assimilate content from multiple tech writing sources for overall continuity and common voice.
  • Organize and facilitate document management and version control.
  • Ability to develop rich graphic content from basic written material.

SharePoint developer/designer:

  • Adapting data center program requirements into a SharePoint team collaborative site.
  • Maintain site design and associated program metrics.
  • Coordinate and manage document organization.
  • Manage site access; permission requests.


Required Experience

  • 5+ years of clear technical writing skills with experience in a high-tech architecture environment.
  • Strong SharePoint skills (Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio would be nice too!)
  • Management skills that pertain to Scope, Schedule, Budget and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience planning, researching, writing, and editing documents that need to be produced as well as defining the overall structure of the documentation set.
  • Experience driving the document review and approval process.
  • Ability to write documents that capture engineering requirements, standard operating procedures and processes.
  • Passionate attention to detail, willingness to work with both internal and external teams to produce the technical content for white papers, procedures and other documentation.
  • Document assimilation and continuity across disciplines providing ‘common voice.’
  • Ability to develop rich graphic content from basic written material.
  • Excellent technical writing credentials and note taking – listening skills
  • Team collaboration skills is essential in this fast-paced environment.
  • Adapting to frequent changes and course corrections.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Ability to manage the comment judication process with the program stakeholders review process.
