Technical Writer

0 people like this description

Our client is looking for a contract technical writer - the deliverable is the end of March/early April 2015.

Their Internal Audit practice is launching a newly designed methodology to their line of business in late May, 2015. This is something that hasn’t existed to-date, and is a big to-do for their business. Their Internal Audit & SOX leader is seeking a tech writer to support their current methodology development efforts – they know typically a tech writer usually takes a piece that an SME has drafted in rough form, adds some the necessary language, polish and delivers. Due to the scope of the current IA project & their limited resources and time, the team is looking for a writer to come in and take over a few delivery aspects of their project at a more in-depth level. Bottom line – this individual would need to take the project from start to finish, leveraging their IA Methodology team members as resources of information, but not as writers.

Full description:

In short, the team is looking for a writer to develop and complete the following: 1. A policy manual for our new Internal Audit methodology - utilizing example manuals we’ve obtained from the RSM network (our International offices), various outlines the domestic team has already put together, as well as leveraging conversations and our team members for reference and resource. 2. A user manual for the corresponding Auditor Assistant tool. We currently have an original tool manual for the first version that was created for Internal Audit field use, but due to our pending re-launch released alongside our new methodology, a manual version II is necessary – something more user-friendly and less ‘techie’, so it’s easier to follow, & polished. Finally, 3. Assistance developing training/course design for the official roll-out.

The manuals are of the utmost importance, and take precedence over helping with training/course design development. The team lead estimates the policy & user manuals to clock in @ approx. 1000 hours, estimated delivery towards the end of March/beginning of April, 2015.

It would be ideal if they could find 1 writer to develop/complete both manuals, but understand they tend to lean in different ways – in order to ensure a top-quality product, they’d be fine with engaging 2 separate writers.
