Life Sciences Technical Writer

Location: Carlsbad, CA – Client prefers on site but may consider off site for the ideal candidate with very specific experience in Life Sciences Technical Writing.

The position is responsible for developing scientific/technical content for all phases of documentation for life sciences instrument products, including case studies, white papers, application notes, editorial and trend pieces.

A successful candidate will work with key contributors within the organization, including software developers, testers, product managers and R&D managers to effectively produce internal documentation.

The position requires the writer to research, draft or revise content, route content for review, meet agreed upon timelines, follow relevant processes and procedures, follow internal style guide for consistency, and follow corporate brand and voice guidelines.

Essential Functions
• Develops and revises content that conforms to deliverable requirements and brand guidelines.
• Develops content that meets the needs of the target audience
• Develops content that is accurate, clear, and concise
• Suggests improvements to deliverables and processes or assists in process improvement projects

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field such as sciences, English, journalism, or marketing.
Generally requires three to five years related experience
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to apply technical writing and document control principles to all work
• Ability to work on short and long-term projects simultaneously and meet timelines
• Must be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-moving interdisciplinary team
• Experience with Adobe RoboHelp, Adobe FrameMaker, XMetaL and topic-based authoring is a big plus
