Technical Writer - Education Platform

0 people like this description

My client is an online learning resource that helps students and teachers organise their homework, and create and access resources from anywhere. For schools, it’s their learning platform, parent portal, intranet and VLE. All in one.
They are looking for a Technical Writer to join the team to help document their software, as well as creating user guides, suitable for their audiences. This is a great temp-to-perm opportunity to join a growing Company that is passionate about what they do, and the impact it makes on their clients.

About the Company:
We're a fast growing business with a rapidly developing product.
We're passionate about growing in a way that benefits our existing clients as much as appealing to new ones.
Every year, we re-invest significantly in our team. The team is made up of a mixture of expert technologists, teachers, designers, support specialists and account managers. It's that combination we think helps us to understand our schools better.
We enjoy writing and supporting software that students, teachers and parents enjoy using. By focusing on education, we can make sure that the Platform has just the features they need without the distraction of the ones they don't. A lot of our best ideas are generated from the people at the schools we serve and stay in close contact with as we continue to develop the product.
Although we've got schools using our Platform across the world, we're proudly based in London, Brighton and Sydney.

The role:
We are now looking for a talented Technical Writer to join our team. You will be responsible for co-ordinating all documentation activities for the Company. This will be achieved by working collaboratively with developers, quality engineers, product managers and usability experts to produce high-quality documentation that supports the use of our products and contributes to the overall success of our product and brand. You will be keen to become an expert from the perspective of every user, whether that’s students, teachers, parents, network managers or school project leaders.

In this role you will:
- Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of our product and our documentation requirements
- Analyse existing and potential content and be able to prioritise and organise your own workload
- Create and maintain all content and information architecture
- Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
- Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and internal guides
- Create tutorials using a variety of media to help end-users make the most of our applications

Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Demonstrate their experience in technical writing of software documentation
- Deliver high quality documentation paying close attention to detail
- Have the ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text, picture and video format.
- Possess excellent written English language skills
- Strong working knowledge of editing webpages, audio and video (screencasts).
