Technical User Interface Artist

Our studio is looking for a Technical Artist to help craft the HUD (head-up display) and front end menu UI for one of the most exciting and creative intellectual properties in the industry.

While this is not a developer role, we do expect a technically adept individual that can quickly adapt to in-house tools and script environments. UI/UX and Web design experience very useful but not absolutely required.

Responsibilities:
• Support the UI Artists in solving technical issues and translate their paper UI designs into functioning and intuitive User Interfaces using in house toolset and scripting.
• Break down visual comps into usable/efficient assets, using templates and data driven solutions wherever possible to increase iteration, design flexibility and efficiency.
• Work closely with producers, developers and designers to generate clean, innovative, and intuitive UI functionality for the game.


Our ideal candidate will possess:
• A technical mindset, an appetite to learn and thorough previous scripting and problem solving ability.
• A proactive mentality and the ability to work on technical tasks and problems autonomously
• Great time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines at once and deliver tasks on time.
• A good understanding of UI design, and a good knowledge of Action Script, Expression Blend, and Javascript/LUA.

Qualifications:
• 2+ years’ experience developing games, web experiences or mobile applications in a professional environment
• Proficiency in scripting preferably Action Script, Javascript or LUA; XAML or CSS a plus.
• Great communication skills and comfort in expressing technical information in layman's terms
• Basic skills in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
• Comprehension of graphic design and production techniques in Web and Game development

Preferable:
• Experienced in all phases of UI system development including rapid prototyping, development, testing, documentation and implementation
• A good understanding of performance and memory optimization in video game production
