Technical Usability Researcher

Contract opportunity in Seattle or remote!
PART TIME - 20 hrs/wk

The Standards Group requires a skilled technology researcher. The work will require both primary and secondary research into multiple questions. The output will be a series of analysis documents and briefing sessions for VP and GM audiences. The researcher will have access to the resources of the corporate library, access to employees with related fields of expertise as well as the full spectrum of information available via the web. There are no current plans for bespoke quantitative surveys, but access to the work of other marketing and planning groups will be made available. This job will require familiarity with GitHub and other package management services. In addition, it is beneficial for this individual to have familiarity with industry consortia standards bodies such as the W3C or OASIS.

Top Must have skills:
GitHub (3-5 years)
3-5 years of Software Development
Background or ability to do research. Please note that writing samples are required.

Ideal Candidate: has Software Development experience (3-5 years of experience). Is aware of standardization. Has worked with standards. Example: BlueTooth or Wifi or Web Services. The best candidates have experience in research, not specifically in Software Development. Ideally has an academic background.

Skills:
Strong writing skills and condense material.
Comfortable conducting interviews both internally and externally and is inquisitive.
Annotative skillsets.
Be able to speak and present materials.
Time management is very important as cannot conduct this research for a lengthy period of time.
