Technical Project Manager

Our client is a leading provider of investor education media and marketing communications for financial services institutions. They have a long-term position for a Technical Project Manager. This position is on-site in Boston.

The Technical Project Manager will be a key member of the product development team that will help to ensure all of the client and syndicated product development initiatives are on track – giving visibility into the status and shepherding projects from concept through to launch. They will help develop applications that entice, educate and keep clients and their clients coming back. The Technical Project Manager should have experience working within a software product development environment, as either a developer or within quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Write and refine requirements/statements of work for both internal and external clients.
• Facilitate excellent and clear communications about requirements, tasking, scope and scheduling across the editorial, design and development teams.
• Requirements gatekeeping to ensure that product owners, clients, and internal teams come up with, and stick to, a roadmap.
• Identify, prioritize and communicate the key issues that must be addressed for projects to succeed.
• Work with the account management, quality assurance and internal/external clients to determine the root causes of any product issues and the appropriate resolution.
• Participate in the concept stage for new product development, including helping to brainstorm and discuss solutions to specific client needs.
• Use web analytics reports to illustrate trends and recommend solutions to improve user flow and interactivity.

Skills/Background

• 2-4 years’ experience in either a development or quality assurance role.
• Must possess the ability to take initiative and have heightened sense of urgency and resolve.
• Clear, succinct communication (both verbal and written) at both the staff and executive level.
• Previous experience in a start-up environment.
• Works effectively with diverse groups of people.
• Able to flow with project changes; when things shift course mid-stream, you can roll with it and help the team re-orient quickly.
• Basic knowledge HTML and CSS. Experience with HTML5, JavaScript and other web technologies a plus.
• Flexible in the use of project management/development tools and methodologies.
• Experience with web-based project management and defect tracking tools.
• Web analytics experience, particularly Google Analytics.
• Design experience is a plus.
