Technical Product Manager

The Technical Product Manager (TPM), must be a results oriented individual with a passion and capability for creating high-quality learning solutions, on-time, on-budget and on-quality. As a leader of teams within the Digital Platform Group (DPG), the TPM must be able to promote teamwork and knowledge sharing. The TPM must be able to work effectively across technicians, business leaders and educational designers. The TPM will work to build strong bridges and trust between the DPG and the client's Business Units.

Specifically, the TPM partners with a business unit product manager in the design, development and implementation of digital learning solutions. The TPM and business product manager co-facilitate Agile development team(s) and are responsible for driving the successful delivery of new products and new product versions. The TPM is responsible for helping the team to define, manage, and implement innovative digital products and product lines that are uniquely responsive to both market demands and the needs of students, instructors and higher education institutions.

The TPM acts as the conscience of the product and the steward of the Agile team(s). Through their leadership and collaborative skills the TPM glues together the people, process and results that enable the DPG to be an employer of choice and a result oriented organization.

Percent of Time
•Draft MRDs, PRDs, Agile epics and stories, with prioritized features and specifications-20%
•Partner with Program Managers and Engineering Leadership to ensure a manageable scope that can be delivered on-time, on-budget, on-quality-20%
•Partner with the business product manager(s) to develop a vision, strategy and feature backlog for digital product(s)-15%
•Develop vision a shared for product(s) through investigation of market demands, user feedback, and competitive analysis. In partnership with the business unit, gather and prioritize product and customer requirements-15%
•Collaborate with other teams within MHE to ensure sharing and integration of best product features and practices across the organization, cohesion across all product lines and coherence of product strategy-15%
•Track competitive and technological landscape, keeping abreast of new innovations and developments in the market space-15%

· Partner with Program Management and Finance in budgeting and planning
· Partner with Architecture and Engineering to ensure effective utilization of resources
· Partner with the business units around knowledge transfer and training on new product features
· Partner with functional managers to ensure the continued professional development of team-members

The TPM is responsible for 1-3 Agile teams and can manage product engineering budgets ranging from $1-10million
The TPM will oversee Agile team(s) of 5-10 members
The TPM is generally responsible for 2-4 product releases per year, per product

· Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred
· 3-5 years of experience in leading Agile- based, digital product development teams. Agile Scrum certified preferred
· Demonstrated success defining and launching complex products, preferably with SaaS
· Demonstrated ability to lead user driven design processes with a strong focus on user experience
· Proven success at influencing and collaborating across teams of technologists, designers and client-facing staff
· Strong writing, oral presentation and project management skills
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, think-on-your-feet business environment
· Demonstrated ability to enter new situation and effect change
· Ability to lead and manage simultaneous projects
· Deadline-conscious, results-driven, and high-performing in a high-intensity environment
· Willingness to travel up to 30%

· The TPM has to combine listening skills, technical skills, writing skills, negotiation and persuasion skills in order to successfully perform his/her job
· They have to work with customers to collect feedback and requests for features, translate those to priorities and requirements for the engineering team and work with engineering team to ensure that the delivered product/service is in line with the desired functionality
· They also have to work with the sales and marketing team to evangelize and explain the new product features to ensure positive impact on revenues and work with ancillary department across the organization to share the benefits of the platform across department, units and divisions.
