Technical Documentation Program Manager

Our client is looking to add a Program Manager (PM) to manage a major re-branding initiative. The client is a section manager overseeing 120+ geographically disbursed technical writers and program managers. This PM role will work closely with her on the re-branding initiative. The PM will oversee a large team of technical editors, production specialist(s), and graphic artist(s). In this role you will be responsible for the standards and styles of technical documents across many programs and for the quality of over 7000 documents.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Oversee entire edit process; manage day to day work, measure progress, check quality, report progress, track issues and facilitate resolving all problems
• Work with other program managers to coordinate edit schedules and adjust processes as needed
• Mentor and train new team members
• Participate in stakeholder meetings to understand scope and schedule
• Negotiate schedule and other specifics of the projects
• Monitor and report progress to team and management on a weekly basis.
• Refine or alter process as necessary to achieve necessary speed, cost and quality

Skills and Abilities necessary for success in this role:
• Knowledgeable of documentation and localization
• Master at putting systems in place to ensure order
• Proactive in communicating status and risks
• Proven ability to develop and execute project plans
• Strong skills in tracking and reporting
• Advanced skills in Excel including pivot tables
• Strong skills in forecasting and in developing metrics
• Experience managing multiple vendors
• Version control and/or CMS experience
• Understanding of Arbortext Editor and Author IT is helpful
• PMP or PMI certification is preferred
