Technical Audio Sound Design Engineer

The Role
As an Audio SDE you will consult with development teams across studios to consult on audio system technical designs and go deep into coding audio systems on titles which will include everything from simply hooking up sound events and controls to complete audio systems designs and implementation.

Responsibilities Include
• Provide tools and code to enable innovation and increase quality in audio content and behaviors.
• Implement any variety of audio middleware in to any variety of game engines – home-grown or licensed.
• Optimize other teams’ audio code and content, for performance and quality.
• Debug and assess issues in other teams’ code and systems.
• Deliver solutions for audio pipeline improvements. This might happen with tools, team structures, outside vendors, or code you write.
• Work with virtual teams across organizations to create new audio features and embedded services from the ground up.
• Partner with product teams, internal and external, to improve audio code and teach teams to improve their own audio code.

Key Skills and Pre-Requisites
• 4+ years - Working as an Audio Programmer for AAA and other games, on at least two major platforms.
• 4+ years - Proven experience delivering innovative interactive audio features to commercially-released products/games.
• Experience implementing digital playback, and sound engines in to different game engine pipelines.
• Experience working deeply with creative directors, producers and audio directors to develop and deliver new audio feature sets.
• Strong testing, development, and debugging skills
• Exceptional C++ coding skills
• Familiarity with managing audio date between the application and the audio endpoint
• A passion for audio
• Outstanding communication skills and ability to drive progress on your own initiatives.
• DSP plugin knowledge a plus
• Experience in a publishing role is a plus.
• Experience working on mobile platforms and PC games is a plus.
• Working knowledge of HTML 5 is a plus.
• Experience working with virtual teams across organizations is a plus.
