Team Lead, UX Strategy

One of the nation's largest and most dynamic nonprofit organizations is currently searching for a User Experience Team Lead. Are you part team manager, part product manager, part designer, part leader? We are looking for a User Experience Team Lead, someone to help grow and guide our budding cross-discipline user experience team. He or she will work closely with the Web Director to enhance and develop the strategy for the organization's digital products and evangelize for the adoption of process across the organization. He or she will also provide inspiration and support to the web team and is responsible for maintaining an open and creative environment.
Responsibilities
In the course of the work with digital products, the UX Team Lead will tackle interesting, challenging work with a team that encourages risk and growth. The main responsibilities of the UX Team Lead include:
• Leading and managing the continual improvement of user experience practice (team and process)
• Promoting culture of user-centered design and development among stakeholders
• Maintaining a collaborative environment on a cross-disciplinary team' user experience design, visual design, content strategy, project management, and development ' that collectively contribute to the final product
• Promoting a culture where critique and feedback are central to the work
• Developing a coherent set of design principles and patterns
• Championing the creation and nurturing of design strategies that help leadership and stakeholders visualize a long-term organizational direction
• Pitching in and filling in gaps by doing things such as site map creation, wireframes, sketching, usability testing, user research, meeting facilitation, in-browser prototyping, troubleshooting, and content production (see also "other duties as assigned")
The ideal candidate will have:
• 4-year degree or equivalent work experience
• 5-7 years' experience in the user experience field with demonstrated leadership experience
• Understanding of the relationship between content strategy, IA, design, and development
• Basic understanding of how web technologies are integrated and used
• Experience using web content management tools
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Basic web troubleshooting skills
• Detail-oriented with high aptitude for creative problem solving
• Self-motivated and decisive with the ability to excel independently and as part of a team
• Ability to manage shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
