Studio Manager UX

As a Studio Manager UX in the User Experience group, your key responsibilities will encompass leading experience design of web sites, mobile applications, and set-top box user interfaces, establishing and/or evolving UX guides, establishing and/or evolving UX libraries, leading production graphics and designing signage/branded templates with an expert understanding of user experience best practices and the application of the experience within a wide variety of scenarios.
You will showcase your perfectionist and detail-oriented leadership abilities by directing team to adhere to established UX frameworks and/or assisting in creating guidelines and foundations that will influence all team members, as well as teams outside of our world. This position also requires leading team members to identify tasks, the ability to generate solid estimates, and the ability to ensure the UX team stays on target and on time.
The Studio Manager UX leads visual design UX solutions to fulfill existing concepts to create experiences that provide effortless choice and control for XFINITY customers. In addition, the Studio Manager UX will lead design of original Web pages and application screens, document interaction systems in UX guides and libraries, collaborate on solutions with directors, art directors, designers, architects and other UX specialists for all CIM products and features, and is an integral member of the UX team’s creative process in delivering world class customer experiences.
Job Duties

• Take existing work (experience designs, UX guides, Information Architecture, visual designs) and rapidly drive progress until project completion
• Collaborate with the UX team throughout any project lifecycle, facilitating and driving UX solutions, discussions and planning.
• Provide UX studio experience design leadership, expertise, and support, helping define project approach to accommodate constraints while delivering the best user experience.
• Lead the delivery of production-ready UX visual designs in alignment with overarching business and user experience goals.
• Articulate and track project milestones, deliverables and risks with the UX team, in addition to communicating progress, near term tasks/deliverables, issues and accomplishments.
• Serve as a liaison between the UX team members, identifying and managing UX specific production designs. This includes concept sketches, rough wire frames or flows, visual design comps (including production ready graphics), rapid prototyping/demos, presentations, logos, icons, mood boards and assists in the creation of associated mitigation plans.
• Prepare and deliver UX presentations and road-shows representing the user experience organization with in-depth knowledge of why design and information architecture choices are being made.
• Contribute to the growing library of knowledge around user centered design both through the products developed and best practice research.
• Contribute to the evolution of the UX guides and/or other guides as assigned.
• Contribute to the evolution of the UX libraries and/or other libraries as assigned.
• Lead the creation of signage and/or branded templates to be used by the UX
• Take the lead on internal and external vendor communication directly related to UX studio visual design support.
• Mentoring and coaching of UX team members and project oversight.
• Participate in HR related duties including mining for talent, hiring and employee reviews.

Qualifications

• Minimum involvement of 10 years designing internet, mobile or equivalent interactive experiences with a expert ability to successfully organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
• Bachelors Degree in Design, Computer Science, Human Factors or equivalent work experience with any combination of expert Visual Design, Writing, Information Architecture, Presentation and Collaboration skills.
• Critical thinking and creative problem-solving for interactive experiences
• Expertise creating or applying interaction systems to create screens or pages that expand on an existing application or website design
• Excellent visual design skills (including, but not limited to: ability to solve problems visually, create visual hierarchy, demonstrating superior aesthetic sense) and strong understanding of typography, illustration, color theory, wire framing, and photo manipulation.
• Excellent information architecture skills (including, but not limited to: ability to design intuitive interactions (web, mobile, set top box), can organize information to create intuitive hierarchy, understanding of user needs and can design interactive solutions that balance those needs with business goals)
• Ability to evangelize user-centered design principles
• Ability to operate independently, but able to ask for advice when facing a challenge
• Excellent facilitation, brainstorming and collaboration skills with expert user experience orientation and exceptional people skills.
• Must have an expert understanding of the most recent version of Photoshop and Illustrator. Knowledge of Fireworks, CSS, Dreamweaver, GoLive, After Effects, 3d Software, iWorks and Microsoft Office are a plus.
• Proficient with diverse writing, presentation, project management software.
• Must be comfortable working with established UX guides/libraries and/or the ability to assist in their continued evolution.
• Experience creating production-ready comps suitable for robust Flash and HTML web sites and/or mobile platforms.
• Superior visual literacy and expert understanding of typography, illustration, color theory, wire framing, and photo manipulation.
• Must have expert verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak effectively before staff or other internal groups.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries with the ability to prioritize and execute.
• Demonstrated ability to builds/manage relationships and works effectively within teams to achieve results, respond to changes in workload and/or work focus by modifying actions to suit business needs, identifying new opportunities and anticipate, manage, and diffuse challenging situations.
• Experience directing IAs, Designers and interns to successfully solve experience design problems
• Experience consistently leading projects to completion and meets project goals, inspiring a project team and establishing a solutions-oriented, supportive and collaborative environment.
• Knowledge and practice of UX industry best practices including User-Centered Design.
• Expresses a passion and desire to innovate and push boundaries.
• Proven experience as a design leader developing products to large consumer base.
• Experience in an agency environment executing UX a plus (e.g., Razorfish, Sapient, AKQA, etc.); track record of product development-oriented projects preferable.
• Supervisory experience with internal/external teams and/or partner relationships and resources is required.
• A expert portfolio of solid web, mobile and multi-media are required. Broadcast, print, identity, packaging, storyboard sketches are a plus,
