Studio Manager

My client is looking for a Studio Manager to oversee the work of their in-house content production team – which brings together graphic design and branding, video and animation and web and interactive work.

The role sits within their central Marketing, Content & Brand team, which works across Portland – handling all of their marketing and new business design requirements, as well as creating collateral (in print, online, and through events) to bring messages to life and power great campaigns.

Key responsibilities

The Studio Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Content team – managing incoming tasks and workflow, ensuring their creative briefing process is followed, entering relevant information onto their task management programme, assigning projects to members of the creative team, tracking progress against timescales and deliverables, and troubleshooting or escalating issues as they arise.

In particular, the role includes:

Line management of design team.
Workflow management, from initial brief and concept, to execution, amends and delivery.
Resourcing and scheduling - including coordinating freelancer bookings.
Managing suppliers.
Ensuring that work is completed to a high standard – maintaining an appropriate level of review for each project.
Through experience be able to identify, recommend and deliver process improvements and establish reporting systems that will deliver the information needed to hone the team’s future success and efficiency.

Person Specification

The Studio Manager role requires a mix of project management, account management, creative and commercial skills. The ideal candidate will have:

2-3+ years studio management experience
A good understanding of the creative process, and an “eye for design” (they will know when something “looks right”).
The ability to manage multiple projects, of various complexity and timescale, at once.
A diligent organiser with the ability to allocate and operate within an agile and commercial manner.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with colleagues at every level of the business.
Proven experience of and able to demonstrate success of delivering successful projects and process improvement initiatives within a fast paced creative environment.
Supplier and budget management experience.
Experience of managing a growing team.
