The Role:
We are looking for a bright, driven and strategic person to take on a leading role as Associate Director of Strategy for one of our key clients – Google North America.
Google NA is a large, varied, innovative and challenging account, with activity ranging from highly targeted local direct response campaigns, to brand campaigns and new product launches. The account covers a wide range of verticals, from B2B to consumer technology, from entertainment to education. We manage around 300 digital campaigns per year for Google NA, using a mix of display, mobile, search and social media, working closely alongside offline partner agencies to deliver integrated campaigns.
This specific role will be focusing on strategic planning for key products, including Google Play, Chrome, Nexus, Google + and YouTube. Whilst communications and media strategy are central to the role, the ideal candidate will go above and beyond this, influencing wider product and business objectives.
Working alongside the Client Partner for Google NA and the Head of Strategy, you will be tasked with devising, defining, presenting and executing integrated marketing strategies for Google NA. Although Essence is a digital-only agency, the role will involve working on multichannel campaigns with partner agencies, and marketing strategy will include online and offline elements.
Although primarily based at Essence in central SF, you should expect to regular visits to Google’s Mountain View offices (at least 2 days per month), and Google will be participating in the interview and candidate selection process.

Some of the things we’d like you to do:
Define and deliver communications strategy across multi-channel campaigns, and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement
Work collaboratively with multiple Google product teams at Essence to inform the development of strategy for their clients
Our clients are typically strategic, smart, results driven, commercial – you’ll need to be the same. You can expect regular client contact at senior level

A bit about yourself:
Extensive and wide ranging experience in the media and marketing industries, with a mix of online and offline channels, media and creative
A proven track record in defining and leading media and marketing strategy for large NA campaigns
International campaign experience is a plus
Exceptional presentation skills, with experience of presenting strategy and securing buy-in at the highest level
Passionate about digital and well versed on the latest industry trends and news
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and deliver results
Excellent interpersonal skills
