TITLE: Manager, Strategic Sourcing –Distribution Centers
DATE: Sept 2014
DEPARTMENT: Strategic Sourcing
REPORTING TO: Sr. Manager, Strategic Sourcing

SUB-FUNCTION: DC Operations, 3PL services, Capital equipment, Maintenance, and Services

GENERAL SUMMARY: This role manages hands-on sourcing projects for the Strategic Sourcing department. This person will identify potential suppliers, clarify specifications from business partners, and run RFP’s.


• Manages competitive RFXs, as necessary, and manages negotiation strategy development, overseeing or conducting the competitive negotiation process as needed
• Manages rigorous analysis in order to scope and prioritize new sourcing opportunities within project area(s)
• Manages and leads the development of business cases and cost/benefit analysis to be presented to stakeholders
• Manages and leads the development of plans for implementation and change management for projects
• Manages and leads team to achieve defined category performance targets and drive the performance of any associated vendors
• Manages and leads the continuous improvement process for programs within purview and offers ideas and assistance on programs across the department
• Managed and leads the creation and implementation of programs to assess and promote supplier performance and development (e.g., establishing quarterly and annual goals, conducting quarterly business reviews, formal scorecard measures)
• Builds effective relationships and successfully partners across varied functions with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, agencies and colleagues to drive results and lead and influence change

• Minimum 8-10 years of professional experience in management consulting, strategic sourcing, supply chain, and/or project/program management
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred
• Expertise in business intelligence and data analysis
• Project Management expertise and ISM certified are preferred
• Expertise with E-Sourcing, Contract Management, and Spend Analytics
• Expertise in Microsoft Office Applications (intermediate to advanced)
• Ability to interact with all organizational levels and demonstrate a professional presence
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively handle issues and challenging situations
• Highly motivated; demonstrates a "can-do" approach in being proactive with work assignments
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, to prioritize, and adapt to a changing, fast paced environment; while consistently delivering high-quality product in a timely manner
• Ability to learn and become a subject matter expert quickly
• Has an entrepreneurial spirit and a growth mindset
