Strategic Communications Planner (HR – Internal and external communication)

Our client, a Fortune 100 Best Places to Work, is seeking a candidate who will serve as a Communications Planner and Consultant for the HR department! This role is located in Northern Virginia and the position is for the brightest and sharpest stars DC has to offer!

The role will include:

• Demonstrate ability to consult and work with senior management, analyze their needs, provide recommendations, and develop appropriate communications strategies to be executed.
• Have a flexible and agile mentality to jump from various projects.
• Support department head and be the lead on various benefits, awards, and other HR oriented campaigns.
• Lead several projects at a time.
• Recommend and conduct appropriate communications research.
• Ability to analyze and document effectiveness of executed communication strategies.
• Write and edit messages, presentations and reports for executives and senior management about company and business unit direction.
• Serve as communications lead or consultant for center communications campaigns and major corporate initiatives.
• Provide support to public affairs duties that could include: developing proactive media strategies to showcase key programs, responding to press inquiries, scheduling and coordinating interviews, and developing effective measures of success where appropriate.
• Manage projects and supervise graphic designers, writers, photographers to create effective pieces for print and online distribution.
• Minimal supervision.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.


This role will require the candidate to have:
• Ability to be flexible and work in a fast paced, high profile atmosphere.
• Occasional overtime and travel needed, including weekends.
• Demonstrated political savvy, ability to maintain composure and clarity of thought and purpose when confronted with highly stressful situations.
• Very strong project management skills; proven ability to successfully plan and direct complex projects and campaigns to achieve business goals, an to measure and evaluate results.
• Understanding of business issues, drivers, and language and how communications can help solve organizational problems and achieve business objectives.
• Strong consulting skills; demonstrated ability to work with executive and senior management to analyze problems, recommend appropriate communication solutions and allow more informed decisions.
• Ability to manage indirect teams, vendors, and customers from multiple locations.
• Ability to write and edit effective messages and tailor their content and style to different needs and channels.
• Ability to monitor best practices and deliver new, imaginative communication solutions.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and respond to changing schedules and priorities while successfully managing multiple projects.
• PC and MS Office knowledge and proficiency mandatory.
• Writing, project samples required
