Sr. Visual Designer

We're seeking a superstar Visual Designer to join our growing team in New York City. In this role, you will use your strong visual and interaction design skills to collaboratively create the look and feel and UI components for the Content Brands.

We’re looking for someone who can use design to translate high-level visions into compelling digital experiences. Responsibilities:
Define the visual design of our online content and digital products.
Work with other designers to co-create, develop, and apply the style guide as it relates to our products.
Work across teams to drive alignment on common UI controls and visual design elements.
Collaborate with content, product, development, and user experience teams to deliver compelling designs to market that satisfy user goals and enhance content experiences.
Evangelize the role of visual design and user experience across the company
Make user experience and visual design recommendations based on usability standards and industry best practices.
Mentor junior staff on visual design principles and processes.
Successfully present your designs to a cross-functional teams to elicit constructive feedback and actively participate in others’ design reviews.


Desired Skills & Experience
At least five years work experience with visual design is preferred in advertising, media, or digital-centered company.
Experience in the content or media field is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Design or related discipline required, Masters degree a plus.
Embody the work ethic and personality that thrives in a fast-paced culture with tight deadlines, shifting priorities, and working with motivated colleagues from numerous departments and locations
Working knowledge of common design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Fireworks, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Omnigraffle, Visio, Balsamiq, collaborative tools (Google apps, Invision, Slack, etc.)
Exceptional visual and interaction design skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with others across the organization
Fluent in usability standards and design heuristics and responsive design techniques
Familiarity with user-centered research, such as usability testing, contextual inquiry, and field interviews
Ability to successfully design in an Agile software development environment
Familiarity with technical issues around web development and ability to work constructively with development teams, including but not limited to understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and DHTML
Experience in designing for tablet and smartphone
