Sr. User Interaction (UI) Designer

Our top financial services client is looking for an experienced User Interaction Designer to join their team to proactively influence user experience direction, innovate and lead client-branded Internet solutions. This is based in the Seattle, WA area (San Francisco area) for a 6 month contract role with opportunity to extend. This is an onsite 40 hour/ week position.

The UI Designer must be able to interpret business requirements and product specifications into usable interfaces. The ability to juggle multiple project initiatives across various engineering/product teams is critical as well as having strong knowledge of the Internet application space including strong understanding of designing site architectures, user interfaces, intuitive navigation schemes, and graphic design for the web. A solid dedication to understanding user scenarios, user roles, personas, and workflows is critical as well as the ability to create new approaches to design problems to meet aggressive deadlines.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
-Understand business needs, objectives, and practices, as well as the user’s needs.
-Design online graphical user interfaces for existing and new deliverables.
-Presenting user interface concepts and design approaches clearly and convincingly.
-Creating user interface implementation specs for the teams in the form of a UI Specification.
-Coordinating interface solutions with Program Managers and Product Managers for specific assignments.
-Act as a resource for implementation troubleshooting, etc.
-Working with the web development and engineering teams to meet technical requirements for projects.
-Act as a primary decision maker regarding all User Interface designs.

Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree or higher in Graphic Design, Interaction Design or a related field. Seven years' experience designing UI solutions for interactive media, software or the web.
-At least five years experience designing Web-based e-commerce or merchant solutions. Solid understanding of and experience with the Web and Web technologies.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge:
-Experience working as part of a Web or software product design team.
-Experience working with engineering and product development teams.
-Excellent written, oral and diagrammatic communication skills.
-Highly desirable: experience with task analysis and modeling, navigation systems, contextual inquiry, usability inspection methods, and usability testing.
-Knowledge of the Payments industry a plus.
-Portfolio review required.

Tools:
Skilled using design tools such as PhotoShop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Visio, etc.
