Aquent's client, a large tech company headquartered in Mountain View, CA, is seeking a Sr. UX Writer for a 12–month assignment.

In this assignment, you will work with the client's new hardware organization, which is responsible for creating, selling, and supporting the client-branded hardware products. If you want to help reinvent computing for the twenty-first century and relish working with talented designers, engineers, product managers, and marketers, please apply.

There are two main facets: Packaging and UX writing.

PACKAGING:
Work as an integral part of the packaging and product teams to develop safety, regulatory, and warranty-related information for hardware products. The writing involved includes both information that ships with the products and closely related online documentation. Your participation in all aspects of packaging development will help achieve and maintain a high level of quality for hardware products.

Top Daily Requirements:
-Collaborate with compliance engineer, product manager, and lawyer for each product to develop safety and regulatory information that addresses specific regulatory requirements for different countries.
-Review and contribute to all other text that appears inside or outside the box, such as quick start guides, marketing materials, and regulatory labels.
-Contribute toward development and testing of the product itself. To help develop successful packaging content, you must be thoroughly familiar with the product and its evolution through the design process.
-Collaborate with other teams to ensure that customers have a first-class experience when they unpack and set up a new product. This work includes helping to develop and refine related internal processes.

UX WRITING:
-Focus on strings and content strategies that increase usability through navigation, labels, informational writing, error messaging, toasts, customer emails, and other software elements of the customer experience. The job includes advising teams on when and where to message, in addition to how to message.

Your mandate will include:
-Improve existing UI messaging across hardware products.
-Write new strings as needed.
-Coordinate with legal and privacy teams for UI string reviews.
-Respond to bugs requesting input on what language to use and why, from internal and partner teams.
-You will need to prioritize complex issues by asking questions about the problem and determining expectations around timing.
-Assist the design process.

Minimum Requirements
-At least 10 years of relevant work experience
-Superb writing, editing, and project management skills for a broad range of audiences, including but not limited to UX writing and longer-form technical or design documentation.
-Familiarity with mobile UI design principles and practices.
-Experience developing information architecture for complex documentation sets.
-Working knowledge of critical business or technical concepts related to a product area, such as in-depth knowledge of legal, marketing, or other factors that impact a product's development.
-Proven ability to take the initiative and see complex projects through to completion with minimal direction.
-Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
-Comfortable learning about and discussing technical issues, ranging from engineering details to animation or design minutiae.
-Experience collaborating with teammates from various disciplines.
-Familiarity with localization practices and issues, including the ability to spot potential translation issues and the kinds of information translators need about a particular string to translate it effectively.

Nice to Have:
-15 years relevant work experience, including experience developing safety and regulatory content for electronic products
-Basic knowledge of a few typical design tools like InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Sketch; for example, for editing text in mocks or preparing screenshots.
-Familiarity with HTML, CSS, XML, and related technologies.
-Familiarity with user experience research principles and practices
-Familiarity with source code management, build systems, and related processes.
