Sr. UX Writer

Overview:
Looking for a senior UX writer to join the Store team, which is redefining the shopping experience for customers looking for hardware.
This role is to help shape the Store experience and relish working with talented designers, researchers, and product managers.

This job has two main facets: UX writing and content strategy. Content development, such as product descriptions, is not part of this job.

Responsibilities Overview
Focus on strings and content frameworks that increase usability through navigation, labels, informational writing, error messaging, toasts, and other elements of the UI.
These do not typically involve writing promotional or marketing content. Writing should include input on when and where to message, in addition to how to message.

Day to Day Tasks:
● Improve existing UI messaging across the Store
● Write new strings as needed
● Coordinate with legal and privacy teams for UI string reviews
● Provide Content Strategy / writing advice.
● Work to inform the design process in terms of effective communication across all aspects of the user experience.
● Participate in design sprints, workshops, and design reviews.
● Respond to bugs requesting input on what language to use and why, from internal and
partner teams.
● Prioritize complex issues by asking questions about the problem and determining expectations around timing
● Assist the design process
● Ensure that designers are never using lorem ipsum or their own filler text.
● Work proactively to encourage designers and other team members to consider
content strategy before or during conceptual design work, so that text is always a
meaningful component.
● Work with appropriate fidelity for the stage of a design; provide rough example text or even just messaging objectives.

Qualifications
● 15 years relevant work experience as a UX writer, including experience with consumer ­focused writing for shopping platforms
● Basic knowledge of a few typical design tools like InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or
Sketch; for editing text in mocks or preparing screenshots.
● Familiarity with localization practices and issues, including the ability to spot potential
translation issues and the kinds of information translators need about a particular string
● Superb writing, editing, and project management skills for a broad range of audiences, including but not limited to UX writing and longer ­form technical or design documentation.

Nice to Haves
● Familiar with HTML, CSS, XML, and related technologies.

● Familiarity with source code management, build systems, and related processes.
● Familiarity with mobile UI design principles and practices.
● Experience developing information architecture for complex documentation sets.
● Working knowledge of critical business or technical concepts related to a product area,
such as in­ depth knowledge of legal, marketing, or other factors that impact a product's
development.
● Proven ability to take the initiative and see complex projects through to completion with
minimal direction.
● Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast­-paced environment.
● Comfortable learning about and discussing technical issues, ranging from engineering
details to animation or design minutiae.
● Experience collaborating with teammates from a variety of disciplines.
