Sr. UX Researcher

Our digital education platform client is looking for a Senior User Experience Researcher to design tests for conducting user research and usability testing on existing and prospective products by working with the User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) groups. The Senior User Researcher will also establish parameters for testing the observable effectiveness of a feature by conducting online or in-person interviews, usability labs, surveys, remote testing, online experiments, benchmark studies, etc.

This is an onsite (ONLY) role in Mountain View.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with Product Management and UX leadership to identify user needs and goals
- Help convert feature and UX design challenges into testable hypotheses
- Model product and task workflow with UX and design staff
- Work with UX and design staff to test features against assumptions, and to validate proposed design and workflow solutions
- Persona and user scenario creation
- Testing including: formal and informal iterative usability testing, creation and maintenance of online testing resources; test plan development, and formal in-person user testing, both lab-based and in the field
- Perform task-focused analysis of user behaviors to determine use need
- Participant recruiting and screening
- Analysis and presentation of testing results

REQUIREMENTS:
- Highly developed people skills—the ability to collaborate across groups with diverse specialties, and the ability to connect and work with users in a one on one environment
- Understanding and experience with integrating user research work product into the software development process
- Experience with conducting usability studies for mobile devices
- Skilled in the knowledge of design and UX design in the software development process
- Superb writing, communication, and reporting skills (samples are requested for evaluation)
- Experience with quantitative data handling and analysis
- Experience with unmoderated remote user testing
- Understanding and experience with accessibility requirements for software and web-based applications
- 5+ years experience in user research and usability analysis with demonstrated experience in the areas listed above
- Advanced degree in Human Factors engineering or equivalent experience
- Excellent communication skills conducting user research exercises
- Experience moderating usability tests (with emphasis on one-on-one interactions)
- Education field experience is helpful
