Sr UX Designer

Our client is looking for a full-time senior user experience designer for User
Experience team. The UX team creates user experience solutions internal sites as well as numerous extranets, deals
management tools and customer care admin sites.

The User Experience team resides within the Product team. As a result, you will
have early influence into projects and will work collaboratively with product managers
and customer care to develop experiences that meet business objectives and the needs
of the consumer.

The right candidate is someone who is passionate about great design and its ability to
influence how both businesses and consumers think about travel. You strive for design
perfection, but also love to release and iterate. You develop big ideas, and execute
flawlessly against them in a highly collaborative environment. Your designs are
engaging, innovative, follow usability best practices and reinforce Hotwire’s brand.

Core Responsibilities:
 Leverage Hotwire’s business model and data into user experience solutions
 Understand and advocate for the needs of online travel customers, particularly the
mobile customer
 Ability to think at a high level about UX and mobile strategy and vision
 Translate broad concepts, consumer needs and business requirements into a
coherent, useful and valuable design for site and mobile users
 Apply user-centered design practices to create high quality consumer experiences
 Facilitate usability research for new and existing projects, and accommodate
findings into your designs
 Create and revise information architecture and interaction design documents,
including: Conceptual IA documentation, site maps, user scenarios, prototypes,
wireframes, flows, site standards
 Translate interaction wireframes into user interfaces and visual designs that are
visually engaging, simple and intuitive
 Play a lead role in the interaction and visual design of new features launching on the
clients site and / or mobile channels
 Convey visual design ideas in tangible forms like concepts, annotated comps and cut
assets
 Ensure the consistent visual presentation of Hotwire products
 Contribute to building an online UX style guide, pattern library, visual design guidelines and other design repositories
 Work closely with product managers and engineers to define product direction and
UX requirements
 Present design methods, explorations, and tradeoff rationale along with a
recommendation to team partners, business stakeholders and UX leadership
 Identify and execute the latest techniques in interaction and visual design
 Collaborate with our UX team and managers: Give and solicit feedback from other
designers in order to continually raise our bar for quality; ensure brand and
experience standards are upheld
 Keep the team informed of industry trends, best practices, comparative &
competitive reviews and evolving technologies.
 Ensure that the product is delivered on time and with a consistent, user-driven
design.

Requirements:
 Minimum of 5 years professional web design experience as a key member of a UX
team participating in the complete lifecycle of several successfully delivered web,
mobile and/or software applications
 Strong communication skills
 Knowledge of prototyping or wireframing tools for both site and mobile (i.e., Axure,
Visio, Omnigraffle, Proto.io, etc.)
 Supreme attention to detail; a demonstrated mastery of typography, color, and page
layout and interaction models
 Solid knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and at least working knowledge of
Adobe Fireworks and Flash, HTML, Javascript and CSS, and mobile operating systems
(iOs and Android)
 Solid understanding of web and mobile graphics techniques and production
practices
 Experience designing for ecommerce sites and mobile interfaces; ability to design
around dynamic content
 Understanding of complex e-commerce businesses, preferably with travel industry
experience
 Demonstrated ability to define and lead strategic and complex transactional
interfaces, especially as it relates to mobile
 Demonstrated experience using analytics data to inform design decisions
 Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet aggressive deadline
 Strong creative skills; an ability to explain your thinking; strong interpersonal skills;
an ability to work independently and with a group
 Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in order to meet
milestones and deadlines. The ability to self-start and self-manage is a must.
 BS/BA in Design, HCI or related degree preferred
 A portfolio is required.
