Sr UI/UX Designer

**This is a full-time, long-term, contract-to-hire position with a company in Plano, TX. Local applicants only; portfolio required.**

The UI/UX Designer will play a critical role in keeping up our status of having the slickest interface of any industry application. This person will be responsible for the graphical design and usability of our applications and components. Enhancements will be ongoing and iterative. The latest best practices and design methods will be utilized to ensure the success of not only the applications we build, but also the company itself. It will be important to have knowledge of designing interactive application UIs, as well as static or dynamic web sites. You will be provided with a Macbook Pro, Adobe CS6 and any other applications you need to work efficiently.

Flexibility, attention to detail, the ability to learn quickly and communicate proactively in a highly dynamic technical and creative environment while delivering quality work by tight deadlines are key. This individual should ideally be strong-willed and dogmatic regarding design principles and patterns and have a strong familiarity with social media trends and applications (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties of the position include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Key Functions:
• Develop wireframes, use cases, flowcharts, production quality graphics, and mock-ups for desktop and mobile
• Develop web style guides and standards, and design specifications
• Analyze site usage, make recommendations and develop enhancements based on usability principles and best practices
• Ensure that the design is consistent across all modern browsers
• Convert designs into CSS and HTML prototypes
• Use Dev Tools or Firebug to troubleshoot front end issues
• Cooperate with team members to deliver an optimum customer experience

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from four-year-college, or university, a certificate for systems or network administration from a two-year technical training program, or two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:
Excellent web design and layout skills that blend visual information design with ease of use and accessibility, an understanding of color theory and typography, an understanding of design and development processes, an online portfolio demonstrating previous UI design work and accomplishments (including links to live sites representative of current skillset), software proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite tools (Photoshop, Fireworks, or Illustrator), and an up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and industry trends are required.
5+ years of experience with web development technologies (such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and/or other JS libraries), knowledge of Git or other source control mechanisms, graphic design for printed marketing materials, familiarity with wireframing tools such as Balsamiq, and experience with Sass/Less and media queries are preferred.
