Sr Proofreader

We are currently search for a Proofreader for a client in Smithfield, RI. 

This role is accountable for proofreading all print and electronic materials for spelling, grammar, typos, and consistency, using the standards set by the Marketing Style Guide. Keeping deadlines in mind, tasks need to be performed efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Proofreads various Marketing materials—biographies, emails, brochures, flyers, ads, quarter-end materials, PowerPoint presentations, forms, applications, web pages, and vendor proofs 
  • Has some copyediting experience and makes suggestions to ensure clearly written content 
  • Works closely with the email test team and project managers on testing emails 
  • Consistently completes tasks on time in a thorough manner 
  • Undertakes tasks without being asked; takes initiative and ownership of work 
  • Seeks resources and asks questions to project managers to achieve desired results 
  • Pitches in to help other proofreaders 
  • Demonstrates flexibility and maintains a professional, positive attitude 


  • Bachelor’s degree in English or Journalism preferred
  • 5+  years of proofreading experience in a corporate Marketing or Advertising department preferred
  • Recognizes if copy needs a rewrite but is not a copy editor 


  • Knowledge of the financial services industry is preferred but not necessary 
  • Teamwork and excellent interpersonal skills are very important, as well as being detail-oriented 
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others in the department 
  • Comfortable working across all levels of the organization, building productive relationships across the department 
  • Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines 
  • Skilled in editing in Adobe Acrobat and using track changes in Microsoft Word 
  • Working knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style preferred
