Sr. Product Manager - Small Business Segment

There is a new, exciting contract/freelance Sr. Product Manager role, onsite, 40 hours a week, 5 days a week until the end of the year. Our pioneering credit card and financial service client - known for being one of the first banks to provide internet banking to it’s customers as well as one of the first institutions to have the Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) – is looking for a smart professional with Small Business Credit Card experience to help their team in a new product launch.

The Small Business Product Team is looking to grow and gain more share of market by exploring a new branded card product launch into this Small Business Card space. This branded card product will be breakthrough and unique to differentiate and appeal to a desirable new customer acquisition small business target via digital and traditional channels (microsites, apps, email, add tagging, direct response).

Key Responsibilities:
• As Sr. Product Manager, you will create and deliver a clear, justified and aligned target based marketing strategy, compelling business case, messaging, product development ideas, based on an actionable segmentation (quantified as to size, profit, opportunity, difficulty)
• Develop new ways of segmenting and targeting that have not been done before that will lead to fruitful ways of innovating, e.g. cross segments or specific purchase occasions or types of small businesses
• Provide deep dive on competitor targets and why the client should or should not target similarly/differently (ideally based on first-hand experience in the market) and ensure initiative incorporates both internal POV and competitor POV
• Develop new product concept in conjunction with innovation client’s agency.
• Become deeply familiar with Small Business market (meaning products and features offered), for example: what’s currently happening that’s of interest, what’s happening internationally, upcoming trends, and how and why credit cards are acquired and used
• Review all market research, conduct internal interviews/external interviews as needed to understand needs as we currently understand them in regards to financing (broadly)
• Work with Agency during the entire innovation process, particularly in framing results for Senior Management. Multiple readouts will be required through the process so will need to develop clear, strategic and transparent decks
• Drive the process with internal stakeholders and Senior team to keep momentum
• Develop new, “out of the box” ideas and be able to turn them into actionable concepts. In doing so, you will participate in entire innovation and research process with agency, generate compelling and thought provoking insights, and turn those insights into product ideas that can be implemented in timely basis while adhering to financial & technology parameters
• Create a financial model with “decision management” – clarify all assumptions ahead of time so that concepts can be run through model and evaluated
• Design and field market research to prove concept – both quick and more robust “quant testing” of concept and – importantly – positioning and preliminary messaging
• Develop senior management deck to recommend path forward – including choice of target, rationale for this concept, competitive advantage, risks

Qualifications:
• Small Business Credit Card expertise – knowledge of the Small Business space and financial needs of Small Business
• Possess a strong drive and initiative. Be able to interface with multiple groups, evaluate priorities and obstacles
• Expert strategic skills – thinks big, pushes the limits, looks for competitive advantage, anticipates risks, and frames problems in simple and action oriented ways
• Strong analytical skills – very comfortable in building detailed business cases and working with our quant partners to build models and create multiple scenarios
• New Product launch expertise --experience in all aspects of launch including developing product and portfolio strategies, competitive and consumer research, market analysis and sizing
• Innovative – creative, thinks out of the box, enjoys the innovation process, sees thing differently from others
