Sr. Print Production Manager

Vitamin T client is seeking a contract Sr Print Production Manager to assist for about 1-2 months on site in Georgetown. Candidates will provide senior-level print production support to client accounts while executing production standards, requirements and needs with team members, print vendors and client production managers.

Duties & Essential Responsibilities
Production Management

• Manages entire production process on specified client account, including the development of job specifications, print production timelines, and enforcement of production deadlines
• Works with Director, Print Production to select and supervise vendors as needed, which includes researching vendors, bringing vendors in for meetings, and monitoring vendor performance
• Alerts Director, Print Production and other strategic partners of any current or anticipated production discrepancies or communication disparities among clients, vendors and departments
• Partners with Account Management, and others where necessary, to develop program budgets for assigned jobs--includes the ability to negotiate vendor contracts
• Maintains records of all jobs pertaining to assigned work, including postal documentation, job specs, printouts, comps, samples, purchase orders and other project information
• Researches and collaborates with Print Production team on methods and procedures to improve quality and efficiency of print, mail house and data processing activities
• Manages production of all printed and mailing pieces to ensure that they meet pre-established quality and production standards
• Responsible for reviewing mechanicals and supervising press checks, when necessary
• Collaborates with team on troubleshooting day-to-day issues within a team environment
• Coordinates art buying and art production including photography searches, price negotiations, purchasing, photoshoot and retouching management
• Additional duties may be assigned

Staff Development/Team Building

• May assist Director, Print Production with the interviewing process and training of staff as needed
• Assists Director, Print Production with fostering and promoting a team working environment within Print Production department and within the Agency
• May mentor and train Production Manager(s)
• May assist Director, Print Production by identifying performance improvement areas and recommending training and development opportunities (e.g. E-Learning courses) in an effort to develop department expertise/skill sets
• Works on own performance evaluation (Sonar 6) by reviewing performance, identifying gaps and recommending training and development needs as necessary
• Attends and/or participates in department overview meetings, mentor program and in-house workshops when necessary

Agency Growth

• Actively participates in agency-wide training programs
• Adheres to agency-defined workflow procedures as directed by Creative Services and/or executive leaders
• Exemplifies fiscal responsibility by adhering to agency and client expense management, timesheet management, staffing policies and procedures
• Develops an awareness of new opportunities to grow project expectations
• Assists in new business development and presentations as requested
• Upholds agency-wide policies, procedures and processes across the team

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• Bachelor’s degree in related field plus five or more years of direct-mail print production experience handling all facets of production, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, databases and server environments
• Ability to work above and beyond the call of duty and provide guidance across departments in a team environment
• Knowledge of all postal regulations and immediate implications to the needs of clients
• Knowledge of offset printing, continuous and sheet-fed laser printing, fulfillment operations and other production procedures that are necessary for proper program management
• Ability to exhibit superior communication and presentation skills
• Ability to multi-task effectively
• Superior organization and prioritization skills and ability to meet high standards for quality and accuracy under tight deadlines
• Ability to offer proactive solutions and ensure successful progression without guidance
• Ability to exhibit client service approach with results-driven performance
