Sr. Manager, Public Relations & Social Media, Canada

Our Fortune 500 client is seeking a Senior Manager, Public Relations and Social Media talent for a 14-month, maternity leave contract position (Nov. 2016-Jan. 2018). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in creating and executing public relations, social media and content marketing programs for a national consumer brand.

This person is responsible for partnering with the Communications, Marketing, Product Development and Customer Care teams to deliver high-impact external communications aligned to the business and go-to-market priorities for our client. The successful candidate will have strong, established media relationships, a deep understanding of social media platforms and consumer expectations, experience driving an end-to-end content strategy with multiple stakeholders and the ability to measure and analyze programs and optimize for the best possible outcome.

This role is an individual contributor based in Mississauga, Canada and reports to the PR and Content leader.

Key responsibilities:

• Develops and delivers high-impact communications strategy to drive category growth and brand preference
• Initiates and maintains positive, productive relationships with media, influencers, bloggers and key external stakeholders.
• Proactively pitches media to secure briefings; serves as media spokesperson
• Coordinates annual product launch and integrated campaigns in partnership with marketing to drive awareness and use
• Develops and executes social media programs to drive engagement and customer acquisition
• Experience developing and executing a robust content marketing strategy across multiple stakeholders
• Experience as a social community manager and collaborating with customer care to manage customer comments on social networks
• Lead and manage outside PR agency to ensure effective deliver of work
• Displays excellent verbal and written communications skills with a keen ability to engage in meaningful conversations, both online and off
• Builds measurability into PR and social media programs; analyzes and assesses the effectiveness of projects and campaigns
• Works cross-functionally with organizations including product management, marketing, and customer support
• Works effectively as part of issues management team to handle crises and high profile issues deftly, protecting and furthering company and brand reputation
• Identify market insights/opportunities and transform them into concrete communication programs
• Effectively manages resource allocation, monthly budgets

Qualifications:
• 8-10 years experience in a PR agency or corporate environment, consumer or high-tech preferred
• Possess both a strategic mindset and proven execution abilities;
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and successfully;
• Ability to excel in an extremely fast paced and start-up like environment
• Self-starter that builds strong relationships in order to deliver outstanding end-to-end business results with limited resources
• A roll-up-your-sleeves, get-it-done mindset;
• Confident decision maker with a bias for action;
• Comfort with change and ambiguity;
• Natural networking and collaboration skills;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills including effective presentation skills;
• Established relationships with key media and social influencers;
• Early adopter of social media technologies with broad platform experience, a data focus and strong analytical skills.
