Sr. Manager, Consumer Insights

One of our Fortune 500 Financial Services clients is looking to fill a Sr. Manager of Consumer Insights role. This is a contract to hire (3 month contract).

The Senior Manager for CI Brand and Business will be the strategic lead responsible for primary and syndicated research initiatives to identify, measure, and communicate insights about the health and competitive position of the business. Areas of focus include brand and advertising tracking, pre- and post testing of mass communications, syndicated/competitive market research, and media and sponsorship effectiveness.

The Senior Manager will have extensive business and research experience, providing objectivity, passion, and thought leadership to the Organization. He or she must be a skilled and confident presenter willing to challenge convention when necessary. The Senior Manager will be an expert in traditional and emerging consumer research techniques, and through building collaborative relationships will lead business partners and direct reports to achieve a competitive advantage in consumer learning.

This Senior Manager will lead a team of three consumer insights professionals who are responsible for conducting primary and syndicated research designed to drive brand growth. He/she will mentor and inspire direct reports to transform data into actionable insights, and develop them professionally in order to better champion the consumer as the foundation upon which brand and service excellence is based.

Measures and reports on brand health by managing brand and advertising tracking studies that are predictive of business health and client's competitive position.

Leads syndicated research initiatives in order to understand consumer needs and behaviors relevant to business team strategies. Evaluates effectiveness of syndicated research suppliers by working closely with business partners to analyze user experience.

Provides the necessary information, direction and guidance to manage the work activities and professional development of three direct reports. Builds relationships with research suppliers and challenges them to provide more effective and efficient delivery of research learning.

Regularly reviews and analyzes competitive activity, identifying changes in creative or media strategy. Identifies and delivers implications and recommendations to gain competitive advantage.

Oversees pre- and post testing of mass communications and the development of a proprietary database of testing results in order to assess communication effectiveness. Works with direct reports to build a strong, collaborative relationships with the ad/brand team, its agency partners and research suppliers.

Keeps current with emerging best practices in consumer research and leads innovation to increase insight effectiveness and speed to market.

Skills Required: Ability at presenting in Powerpoint and comfort with visually presenting quantitative data to C-suite.

Ability to create and present actionable insights from data to achieve business objectives
- Proven customer research expertise
- Expert communication skills to all levels of the organization

The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of consumer insights experience (at least 8 years work experience). This person will have 1 direct report so management experience is also preferred.

Skills Desired:
Advanced skills visually presenting quantitative data in a concise, compelling and clear manner
- Specific experience in syndicated research, tracking study management, and advertising pre-testing.

- Background or combination of experiences with service marketing, brand consulting, advertising (agency or client side) financial services.

Lean Six sigma/demonstrated process improvement experience preferred.

Bachelor's degree is required.
