Sr Graphic Designer/Art Manager

The role of the Art Manager mixes exceptional design and creative vision, with effective and clear communication, responsible for the creation and management of on-brand marketing, operation and communication solutions. A critical function of this role is ensuring branding, design and messaging is consistent across multiple channels. Projects include, but not limited to, marketing campaigns using multiple, coordinated media channels; tradeshows; marketing collateral, including brochures, client newsletters and sell sheets; and whitepapers, infographics; and packing designs. The Art Manager reports to the Director of Marketing, and performs design work as well as oversees the work of creative resources. Specific Responsibilities: ● Works closely with the Branding and Marketing team to concept and deliver creative solutions that meet individual brand standards and company goals. Leads by doing; designing layouts, preflighting files, reviewing proofs, attending, meetings, etc. ● Serves as a visionary, leading idea generation for – and production of – imaginative, on-brand creative solutions, mentoring creative team providing meaningful and constructive criticism ● Concepts and executes product designs and packaging that effectively enhance brands ● Concepts and art directs photo shoots and video shoots ● Helps define all creative project requirements, working closely with managers who are responsible for creating the detailed project plan with schedules and budgets ● Liaise with executives and vendors to develop creative solutions that accurately convey brand ● Ensures branding, design and messaging is consistent across multiple divisions, and campaigns ● Maintains a solid understanding of brands, products and services, markets and target audiences ● Stays informed about company products, current graphic design trends and tools, and industry developments that may lead to future visual communications opportunities Requirements and Qualifications: ● Must have 3-5 years design experience in art, graphics and product development ● Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, OR experience equivalent to a degree ● High-level strategic and conceptual thinker, willing to roll up his/her sleeves and perform work ● Expertise in designing for multiple media channels, including print, digital, web, and email ● Ability to adapt design approach / solution as needed to meet business unit or company needs, and to accommodate executive feedback and critiques ● Must have excellent understanding of print production and the printing process ● Must be able to prioritize, multi-task, and handle pressure in a fast-paced team environment ● Must be able to adhere to a high standard of quality while meeting deadlines ● Must have excellent Macintosh computer skills including expert level knowledge in Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Keynote PowerPoint, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Basecamp ● Retail experience and environmental design a plus ● Knowledge of the cannabis industry preferred but not mandatory. Qualifications (Top 3-5 Must Haves, Stand Out Qualities “Rockstar”): -Hired GD but need someone with stronger skill-set and can lead a team. Manage a few creatives, guide them on branding guidelines while assisting with design. -Some agency facing, though Brand Director/founder (Cambria) does most of it. -Overseeing Jr GD, social coordinator/copywriter, photographer -3-5 years of experience, mid-senior designer -Knowledge of packaging, designing new types with brand guidelines alongside management of existing (i.e. Joint pack as opposed to single joint and what that looks like) -Comfortable working in cannabis industry, functions as corporate setting. Deliverables (Types of projects, etc): -80% print mainly for packaging with compliance requirements, knowledge of brand but understanding of legal needs. Preferred if come from regulated background but does not need to. Clips in Portland monthly, -20% Often photoshoots with product and covering 4 different brands, editorials, this person will help art direct these photoshoots. Inhouse photographer but art manager will direct and ensure they are onbrand. Youtube videos, work with FINE & OMFG Co - provide assets to them to so this person will be creating assets then doing back end website management.
