Sr. Designer (Print Heavy)

We are seeking designers who thrive in a collaborative environment and can develop innovative, thoughtful designs in all media. They will have an excellent command of typography, photography, and composition as a foundation to work within existing brand language. They will solve problems in a fast-paced environment and be skilled at interpreting strategic briefs, research, and insights in order to develop conceptual designs that solve for marketing and communication goals. They will be excited to create work that is up to the standards of one of the greatest design schools in the world.
Responsibilities
-Effectively craft and shape the university’s communications through all channels. Ensure design continuity across all media.
-Generate creative that helps university partners define and meet their communications objectives for projects of various sizes and scopes, including advertising, view books, search pieces and brochures, signage, merchandise, invitations, and websites and other digital marketing initiatives.
-Partner with members of the in-house team including writers, other designers, project managers, production artists, strategists, online media producers, and the art director to conceive integrated holistic creative concepts.
-Advise on typography, layout, information architecture, palette, use of photography or illustration, and other graphic elements and techniques.
-Adhere to agreed-upon project management plans meeting all of the needs outlined in creative briefs, including delivery schedules and budgetary considerations. Communicate with the project team in all stages of design.
-Create Web and print-worthy files that reflect effective and efficient production values. Stay current with print and Web design, production, and technology skills.
-Make presentations to clients, communicating creative vision and process and speaking with clarity and conviction.
-Must bring brand positioning as well as design identity to life through strong communication design. -Reports to the Art Director.

Qualifications:
-4+ years of demonstrated experience as a senior graphic designer.
-BA/BFA in graphic design with an emphasis on print, Web, or illustration, or equivalent experience.
-Superior knowledge of and experience with interactive and print design, including in-depth knowledge of typography for print and Web.
-Excellent organizational, management, and presentation skills, combined with an impeccable attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously, quickly, and effectively and capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to conduct photo research, edit photos, and art-direct photo shoots. -Demonstrate ability to express brand identity that meets communication goals.
-Demonstrated excellence with MAC OS platform. Expert skills in applications including but not limited to Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.
-Experience working with printers and pre-press vendors.
-Expertise in any of these fields a plus: photo retouching, illustration, information design, and motion graphics.
