Our tech eCommerce company is looking for a Senior Designer for a temporary assignment, potential for temp to hire, 40 hours/week onsite in San Mateo, CA. S/he will bring creative expertise, inspiration and thought leadership to all design disciplines as well as a deep understanding of building experiences to drive brand. S/he will support the vision for the company's branding, bringing a consistent, unexpected look and feel across the marketing assets on the site, with the creative ability to transform fresh ideas into actionable concepts and embrace our quirky brand identity. S/he will work collaboratively, and thinks conceptually and strategically about campaigns, branding and design. This position reports into the VP of Marketing. S/he will manage a junior designer and create marketing assets both on and offsite, including email assets, desktop, mobile, advertising, partnership projects, and more. The ideal candidate will have a combination of: a) passion for storytelling; b) a strong, boot-strapping and entrepreneurial spirit; c) wants to build a fantastic team and smart infrastructurefrom scratch; (d) a love of people and great management skills
-7+ years of experience, with goal of becoming a creative director in the future
-B2C, consumer-facing experience
-Strong understanding of layout, color and typography
-Mastery of the design tools, platforms and versions of applicable software programs – including Mac OS, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Keynote, PPT
-Has a strong voice, confidently represents the brand vision
-Have mentored junior designers before
-Ability to think clearly and contribute to discussions and strategy during the entire design process, from concept through completion.
-Detail oriented, and able to juggle multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines at once.
-Flexible, can-do attitude with an ability to adapt and pivot as necessary, while leading your team to do the same
-Excellent communication skills: You know how to present your designs and communicate what problems they are solving. Being able to give and receive feedback is a must.
Nice to have:
-Has been in a leadership role previously, demonstrating ability to create his/her vision of design instead of just following brand guidelines and rather developing his/her own point of view
-Marketing experience / standpoint, partnerships and
-Has managed a team before
-Experience working with a startup and/or a large brand in tech or eCommerce
-Experience concepting and managing model and product photo shoots
