Sr. Copywriter

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Write and edit highly creative copy that elevates brand projection and is consistent with the brand voice. Create written print/web/social content that builds the brand through tone, style and story. Partner with Merchants, Marketing, Creative, Publishing and Web teams. Lead and manage content from concepting through final execution. Ideate with Design and ICS on print and web projects. Train and manage freelance or staff writers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Understand brand projection and consistently deliver innovative, on-brand copy as well as new creative ideas
• Translate Merchant and Marketing initiatives into on-brand creative solutions inclusive of design and photo considerations
• Own end-to-end print pieces in terms of storytelling, pacing and writing
• Edit product copy to the brand voice
• Oversee project workflow and plan out scheduling to ensure all deadlines are met with accuracy
• Interface and partner with Photo, Design, Graphic Production, Web and Coordination teams
• Proofread copy to ensure clarity, accuracy and consistency of style
• Oversee and edit freelancers and/or staff product copy writers
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Creative fashion writer who understands the brand and is able to maintain voice consistency
through all projects
• Brand thinker who is able to elevate and evolve copy, and train others on voice
• Must be an “idea person” and true problem-solver
• Strong portfolio showcasing inspiring creative approaches
• Attuned to fashion, retail and publishing (blogs, social media, etc.)
• Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Self-motivated, with ability to make independent decisions
• Ability to identify solutions and present to manager to resolve issues
• Active engagement and participation in meetings and dialogues
• Strong verbal communication skills and ability to present creative ideas
• Ability to respond to feedback and synthesize complex information from multiple sources, translating it into creative solutions, and explaining it to others
• Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail, as well as a holistic vision
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• BA in literature, journalism, advertising, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years copywriting or fashion/beauty editorial writing experience
• Fashion/beauty, retail/direct experience.
• Editing experience
• Project management experience
• Fluency with Macintosh system
• Knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style and AP Handbook
