Copywriter - Bay area beauty brand!

As a key leader to the creative team, the Sr. Copy Manager is responsible for leading high level concepting, writing and proofreading marketing materials for Brands diverse audiences. The Sr. Copy Manager concepts and creates witty and memorable on-brand coy that consistently communicates the brand voice throughout all communications in a creative way.

This role is responsible for:
Developing familiarity with the Brands products in order to identify features and benefits and ensure copy is thorough and accurate.
• Managing areas of business, as well as ideating and presenting original ideas and copy to the director of editorial and/or creative director ensuring accurate, consistent, and high quality messaging in all marketing and communications materials.
• Managing multiple writing projects with the ability to meet constant deadlines and the flexibility to manage shifting priorities.
• Innovative campaign taglines, conceptual ideation, product naming, body copy and thematic ideas for experiential and/or social initiatives.
• Inspiring, leading, and managing direct reports in the maintenance and evolution of the brand voice through all projects and across all brand including makeup and skincare lines.
• Tailor copy to all mediums including promotions, packaging, channel marketing, international, direct marketing, signage, social media and online communication, as well as experiential marketing.
• Work closely with legal and regulatory to ensure approval for all copy.
• Maintains organized filing system of key information materials on spelling usage, brand style and other legal specifications and updates files on a regular basis.

Management responsibilities include:
• Assigning projects, managing timelines, managing translations (where applicable), reviewing, copyediting, proofreading direct reports projects and hiring replacement writers when necessary.
• Review all copy to ensure accuracy of information and mechanics of writing, which includes punctuation, spelling, structure and organizational and correct use of trademark symbols according to legal guidelines
• Manage copywriters
• Maintain style guide

Attributes:
• This position requires initiative; the ability to originate and present ideas; the ability to lead and inspire a team and to partner with internal clients (Global Brand Marketing/Product Development & Digital) and lead brainstorm sessions for projects.
• Must be able to prioritize while multi-tasking and handle pressure with adherence to quality and deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where innovation, creativity, a positive attitude, growth, passion and fun are valued.


Job Qualifications:
• BA degree in English, Journalism, Marketing or related field
• Minimum 6 – 8 years copywriting experience
• Minimum 2 years beauty or fashion copywriting experience preferred
• Marketing/retail experience preferred
• Proven experience leading creative concepting
• Excellent command of the English language required
• Thorough understanding of the rules governing the grammar and usage of the English language as well as familiarity with standard reference texts.
