Sr Communications Specialist

Our client, a major consumer electronics company, is looking for a Senior Communications Specialist for a 4 month contract. This is for their Team which is responsible for customer data and retention marketing programs to grow the company’s direct relationship with its customers. This role is critical to promoting and maintaining product registration and managing the company’s direct mail (DM) marketing program.

Located in their San Diego headquarters, the Senior Specialist builds relationships with the company’s customers through printed DM and by building the customer database through product registration.

The Senior Specialist will work closely with stakeholders like the Marketing Communications team, Product teams, and external agencies.

Key to success in this role is the ability to gather, manage and distribute quickly evolving feedback on product selection, copy, and creative for timely and accurate execution. Other specifics of the role include interaction with database segmentation for campaign targeting and campaign logistics with vendors.

Responsibilities will include:
- Develop product registration incentives and promoting those in direct mail and other channels (e.g. email, Customer Service)
- Coordinate production of 6-10 direct mail campaigns per year, including:
- List selection to meet KPI and financial goals
- Set in-home timing to complement campaigns in other marketing channels
- Use knowledge of paper selection, postage/mail piece sizing, and environmental considerations to recommend formats for catalogs, postcards, and other mailed pieces that reflect brand
- Route creative traffic between Team and Corporate Communications, Product teams, Legal, and other internal stakeholders
- Route creative traffic between Team and external creative agencies and printers
- Develop a thorough understanding of DM campaign metrics and reporting and sharing that knowledge with internal stakeholders as you report on results and recommend tactics
- Recommend new digital marketing extensions or evolutions from print campaigns

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in marketing, communications, advertising is required
- Must have a minimum of 4 years of related marketing and/or communications experience with an emphasis in direct mail marketing preferred
- Previous experience working with agencies, on either the client or agency side, is required
- Must have a high level of organization and be an extremely detail-oriented multi-tasker who can seamlessly manage multiple campaigns with overlapping schedules and working with multiple vendors simultaneously
- Proactive nature and ability to work with minimal supervision to see projects through completion is required
- Must have the ability to adapt quickly to changes and work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
- Ability to approach business decision-making through a quantitative perspective is required
- Experience with the analysis of direct response campaigns and an understanding of relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), including return on investment (ROI) or campaign spend is required
- Must have experience with list selection, merge-purge, test planning and analysis
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop and deliver presentations is required
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and a focus on problem solving
- Good creative intuition with the ability to carry through our brand’s visual identity is required
- Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, specifically in PowerPoint and Excel
- Must be able to translate requested changes to creative while maintaining proofreading & grammatical review and recommendations
- Some digital experience preferred
- Ability to travel domestically approximately 20% of the time is required
