Sr Communications Consultant

This position is responsible for managing communications for projects related to health care reform and other regulatory/government projects; including planning, writing and editing communications materials for a variety of internal and external audiences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Develop and maintain relationships with project stakeholders to understand project objectives and deliverables
• Develop communications plan for projects and manage deliverables against the plan, including research, development, review and timeline management.
• Work with project lead to set project communications scope of work. Effectively manage project within the stated scope of work. Implement and manage Scope Change Control processes and update communication plans, timelines and deliverables based on approved changes. Ensure changes do not expand scope beyond acceptable levels.
• Have a working knowledge of tools used by the team, where resources are located and any training necessary to perform at a high level.
• Manage reviews and approvals with project leads, business leads, legal counsel and marketing communications leadership as needed.
• Operate at a high level of professionalism, including self-managing work time and space, interaction with colleagues and clients, deadlines and deliverables.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Ideal candidates will have 5-10 years generalist communications experience, with particular experience in insurance, health care or related industries.
• Candidates must have strong writing/editing background, project management skills, and experience writing for a variety of venues including newsletters, web and collateral pieces.
• We have visible roles in the company, so need to look, speak and act professionally.
• Requires a college degree, preferably in journalism, PR, marketing communications or business communications;
• Must present excellent writing samples from a corporate environment.
• Demonstrates ability to work independently and within a team environment. Able to balance multiple task simultaneously.
• Ability to engage in group conversations, showing a high level understanding of the project.
• Balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficient in use of PC platform and MS Office tools; internet and meeting tools (conference calls/live meeting links).
• Available full-time.

PREFERRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Health care and/or insurance industry acumen.
• Experience with Lotus Notes email system.
