Sr. Character Rigger

We seek a Senior Character Rigger to be responsible for executing the artistic vision of the project by collaborating with the Technical Art Director and Art Director and applying their experience directly to the creation of solid artist-driven workflows, automation tools, content pipelines, and asset management that are vital for the art team to deliver highest quality industry content. They will be creating Maya tools for user generated content abroad, working with different companies that hires and being the technical backbone for those projects. Working core hours will be M-F, 8-5pm.

This role is more tools building then rigging (Python workflows, tool construction for Maya, asset validation pipeline, etc)

This position is an opportunity to live at the intersection of technology and art, with the aesthetic skills to understand what needs to happen, and the technical skills to make it so. The position will enable the artist to work more creatively and efficiently.


Ideal Candidate Requirements:
• 5+ years as professional artist or equivalent experience
• Must be an expert using Maya and doing character rigging
• Portfolio required
• Proficient with professional 3D software for content production across multiple disciplines including 3D modeling, texture production, animation, rendering, rigging, A.I. (3DSMax, Maya, Modo, Motion Builder, XSI, Lightwave, Zbrush, Mudbox, and Photoshop.)
• High capacity to learn new tools and process.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and collaboration skills. This position works with engine developers, designers, and artists.
• Self-motivated and comfortable dealing with the ambiguity of V1 and incubation work
• Passion for games, technology, and/or amazing user experiences
• A fundamental understanding of digital art processes and production - how do artists work? How can we make their lives easier and unleash their creative potential?
• Deep understanding of the technical requirements of real-time content development.
• Coding, workflow tool and script authoring experience that has reduced the cost of in-house or outsourced content production and pushed creative iteration. (Including Python /MEL/Photoshop/ Pipeline Tools, Shaders (HLSL)etc., C#, C++ is a plus.)
• Familiarity with modern game engines: Unreal/Unity; Core CG generalist skillset
