Sr. Art Director

The Senior Art Director works collaboratively with the rest of the Design team, the Publishing team, and with External Communications colleagues to create and maintain outstanding digital designs and communications. This is a hands-on role, responsibilities include: developing design solutions from high-level ideas to detailed graphical layouts to support the firm’s digital publishing and corporate communications. Reporting to the Design Director, the Sr. Art Director is part of the Publishing design team. Together you and the team will ensure that McKinsey’s communications and publications are best in class for our target users and meet the needs of internal stakeholders. As such, the Sr. Art Director will have the stature and communication skills to assert themselves as a leading, knowledgeable voice within the team.

The individual will be able to manage multiple projects independently and efficiently. She/he will need to develop and maintain accurate schedules, and timelines for delivering products of the highest quality, matching the standards of excellence expected of the firm.


Responsibilities

• Lead the day to day design development and production of McKinsey’s publishing campaigns; collections of content that communicate the firm’s priority topics and develop audiences to engage even more deeply with the content
• Work with content owners and Editors to source, create and develop branded visual communications that move seamlessly from web to social and to print
• Provide thought leadership and hands-on execution across a diverse range of communication types including corporate blogs, web, social media, and e-publications
• Create engaging brand experiences while upholding the highest standards of clarity and usability for digital products and communications
• Support and guide colleagues in production roles with guidelines, documentation, and graphical assets
• Go beyond the basic brief to design beautiful, inspiring, branded communications


Required Skills and Experience

• Storytelling: ability to read a story and envision and execute visual ideas that advance the story, including UI design and layout, image search and manipulation, and creative typography
• Detailed understanding of cross-channel digital communications: web, social media, and print
• Explore visual storytelling, working with editorial content
• Experience working within a large, global brand system
• Experience visually presenting data, comfort communicating effectively using graphs and charts
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Highly efficient, organized, and detail oriented with pixel perfect attention to detail


Required Technical Expertise

• Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (In-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)
• Comfort using Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Excel, Word)
• Basic knowledge of HTML and Cascading Style Sheets, experience working with CMS templates
• Familiarity with project-management best practice
