Our client is looking for a Sr. Art Director to add to their awesome agency located in SE Portland. If you have a background in 2D and 3D graphics and are looking to join a progressive agency this is the job for you!
This is a contract to hire position and starts asap.

The Sr. Art Director oversees the creative development of design solutions for both internal and external projects. This person provides creative direction and inspiration to the design team and helps ensure the agency is providing exceptional design solutions that meet or exceed client expectations. The Sr. Art Director also works with the Sales, Project Management and Engineering/Production teams to ensure clients? needs are being met and the creative goals are on track. This is a people-oriented position which involves development of both high level and tactical concepts for design projects. This position will interface with internal and external clients, understanding clients? needs, designing and pitching ideas/concepts, and following the design process through to completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish creative direction for design and branding services
  • Meet with clients to understand their needs
  • Prospects ? help pitch to potential new clients
  • Ability to not only deliver conceptual ideas (ie. sketches) but to also execute those ideas through design
  • Provide direction and inspiration to the creative team including vendor partners and freelancers
  • Help manage capacity in the creative/design department including assigning work to the team based on skill set to get the best results possible for the client
  • Help ensure projects within the creative/design department are on time and on budget
  • Provide quality control over concepts and projects
  • Help ensure all billable creative and design time is captured and invoiced to the client

  • Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor?s degree in Industrial or Graphic Design (or equivalent design discipline)
  • 10+ years of experience in retail, graphic, or environmental design
  • Experience managing of a creative department
  • Proven ability to understand and convey ideas, concepts and information clearly
  • Skilled in presenting design concepts during meetings and formal presentations
  • Proficient in 2D, and proficient/or have solid understanding of 3D graphic and modeling programs (Cinema 4D or other rendering / modeling software); Adobe Creative Suite as primary design tools; proficient with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Basic engineering knowledge and understanding of materials/usability (when to use acrylic, MDF, etc)
  • Hand sketching, ability to read and interpret design documentation, technical drawings and architectural plan information, and model making are all ideal skills for this position
  • Excellent communication skills; listening, engaging others, interacting with a variety of personalities in an effective and positive manner
  • Professional and persuasive demeanor
  • Ability to work well under the pressure of multiple, quick-turn deadlines; heightened sense of urgency to drive projects through all phases, adhering to tight deadlines and changing situations
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities and range of levels with organizations
