Sr. Art Director

Our corporate client in Dallas is looking for a Senior Art Director for a six month contract opportunity. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the creative development and pre-production of key marketing and image-driven communication pieces to include international market advertising materials (e.g., magazine, billboard, television, and video), new product launch brochures, key consumer literature, branding updates, development of images for worldwide use, and responding to specific art direction requests for the international markets. Provides creative direction and guidance to staff and vendors assigned to projects.

1. Provides art direction regarding the design and creative development of all international advertising. Meets with appropriate local marketing staff and requesting department to establish project direction including marketing objectives, budget requirements, and production schedules. Develops concepts for design and layout which meet marketing objectives. Provides guidance to creative teams assigned to projects.

2. Produces, art directs, and designs all key major marketing consumer literature such as The Look book and major product launch brochures. Art directs and coordinates related beauty and product photo sessions, including a minimum of two major consumer and independent sales force shoots annually. (May increase based on new product launch and public relations needs). Creates video concepting and storyboarding for educational, promotional, and web needs.

3. Produces tight comprehensive layouts and coordinates all phases of development including photo direction, model selection, illustration, and any special design. Determines if copy/graphic treatment meets all marketing and image objectives and is consistent with global objectives. Works closely with in-market color retouchers and production companies to approve color separations and to provide pre-press and on-press direction and quality assurance when needed. Develops job estimates with International Account Services Manager based on concept and quantity.

4. Identifies and develops ‘in-market’ photo-teams, consisting of photographers, make up artists, stylists, and producers based on quality, creativity, ability to maintain marketing objective, and cost of services provided. Utilizes a high level of judgment to select most appropriate resources, especially in markets where the beauty industry is not fully evolved and resources are limited. Provides art direction and guidance to these resources in order to obtain the highest level of creative execution.

5. Interfaces with management of International Marketing to receive project direction and approvals. Provides creative consultation and design support to local marketing teams.

6. Continually researches new design techniques, styles, and vendors available to the graphic arts industry in order to stay on the leading edge of creative, innovative and effective communications while fulfilling objectives and strategies.

7. Stays abreast of competitive products and communication programs. Reviews leading fashion/beauty magazines and advertising of major competitors. Encourages and helps staff to become and stay involved in competitive and fashion trends.

8. Participates with Creative Director, International in determining the image/positioning platform/objective of the Company and executing materials to meet those objectives.

9. Trains, manages, motivates, evaluates, and provides performance feedback to assigned Sr. Graphic Design/Production Artist.
