Sr. Art Director - Interactive

The Design Lead must have a diversity of talents from being a passionate, strong creative thinker, manager of people and a highly engaged executor. This role is responsible for determining the best ways to visually represent the U.S. Deposits bank products in digital and traditional print while creating an ownable space in the marketplace. The Design Lead must be able to provide creative vision and direction that translates copy into powerful, effective direct response marketing communications that help create customers. As a brand champion, be responsible for working with external agencies and managing internal designers to bring the brand to life across multiple channels and audiences.

Essential Responsibilities

Working with colleagues, provide creative thought leadership in the development of high quality digital and print marketing communications projects for the U.S. Deposits team that helps generate customers and creates a positive customer experience.

Be able to think outside the box, (yes, we mean it!) and push conventional thinking in order to deliver fresh, high-level concepts that are on brand and satisfy business goals.

Provide expert level digital expertise from conceptualization to execution of creative for web sites, emails, landing pages, smartphones, tablets

Thorough understanding of direct response and digital and able to work within both

Knowledge expert of interactive communications and delivery systems, processes and user interface design as well as industry best practices

As digital expert, provide knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography and limitations of the web; must understand Flash and have the ability to storyboard or translate ideas to designers and develop innovate motion graphic solutions

A strong working knowledge of experience design, brand development and creative process

Provide creative thinking during creative kick-off meetings, brainstorms and presentations and be able to influence some and guide others with recommended solutions

Be an effective designer. On many projects, the Design Lead will also function as the primary or secondary designer responsible for delivering compelling concepts and design

Able to push self and team to continuously seek inspiration that helps produce impactful design

Ensure your team uses and understands the approved Creative Brief but you must also able to work with colleagues to develop a Brief, if necessary

Ensure your team uses creative best practices throughout the creative process in order to deliver high quality work efficiently, timely and cost effectively and meets all agreed upon deadlines and follows through on project requirements

Work with Creative Services Lead to implement performance metrics to manage for success

Ensure team uses creative best practices throughout the creative development process in order to deliver high quality work efficiently, timely and cost effectively

Provide informed opinion on how to improve the creative during internal/external reviews

Participate in regular department meetings to share best work, best practices and learnings.

Partner with Creative Services Lead to ensure self and team receives appropriate development training

Work with Creative Services Lead to develop a collaborative, energetic work environment where team can produce high quality work efficiently, timely and cost effectively. And, where deadlines and follow through on project requirements are met.

As designer team grows, help to create an open environment where honest feedback is provided regarding their performance but also advancement opportunities

Must be able to write and conduct performance evaluations; discuss individual?s growth plans and provide support


Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts or related field or equivalent visual design and management experience required, graduate degree preferred

Proficient in Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge, Flash, Dreamweaver

Proficient Mac and PC skills: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Actionscript

Experience with Adobe AfterEffects and video editing (a plus)

Desired Characteristics

Able to exercise good judgment and independent discretion regarding projects, initiatives and other company-related efforts with general guidance from Creative Services Leader.

Able to communicate challenges to Creative Services Leader as well as help solve them

Is able to manage the workflow and direct the work of others, as needed

Able to multi-task, prioritize, problem solve and work independently

No drama, team player, flexible and is a fast thinker, especially during critical or stressful times
