Growing company in San Diego seeks experienced Sports Apparel Designer to manage the design and creative needs of all US (including Global) business activities. The Apparel Designer will have a strong focus on athletic apparel design, which requires deep knowledge about range of motion, performance style lines, and athletic fitting.

Candidates should be familiar with current manufacturing methods, fabrics, and components used for performance wear.
Ideal candidates would have experience designing for team sports categories like baseball, basketball, football.

The Apparel Designer will have a communication role with clients, and will be able to translate initial ideas into designs that are relevant and desired by company's customers. The Apparel Designer is responsible for handling on-going design feedback, until designs have been accepted and passed on to Merchandising teams.

Overall Design Responsibilities:

  • Support Business Development in managing design and creative needs of all US (including Global) business activities.
  • Establish direct communication with branded clients, and analyze initial design direction in order to create a clear design brief before each project.
  • Produce high-quality designs within timelines as agreed upon with clients, and cooperation with other departments to execute designs on-time for provided development schedule.
  • Manage in-house and outside designers, and set creative direction for all teams in order to complete successful projects on time with provided schedules.
  • Remain updated about current sewing and manufacturing methods (as well as fabrics and trims) that are being used in technical performance apparel, in order to incorporate them into design.
  • Ability to design wide range of apparel categories, and readiness to make necessary alterations based on customer feedback.
  • Analyze apparel samples that are produced based on designs, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Generate innovative concepts related to apparel designs, fabrics, and internal projects.

  • Fashion/lifestyle based apparel design.
  • Logo or graphic design for t-shirts.
  • Footwear or accessories design.
