Specialist, Customer Marketing Programs Manager

Our client in Santa Barbara is looking for a Project Manager for a 6-month contract, possibly longer. The ideal candidate will be in the Santa Barbara area, but they are also willing to consider candidates throughout California, who are able to travel onsite 1-2 times a month for meetings.

Position Summary:
Top talent to join the Customer Marketing Team managing digital marketing programs to support company’s SaaS revenue, usage, adoption & engagement business goals. This role will conceptualize, ideate and optimize programs that will improve product adoption via online trials, product usage, sales revenue (conversions, direct purchases, renewals, referrals upsell), as well as customer retention and loyalty through a variety of channels including email, marketing automation tools and communications built into products. The position manages prioritized project list for assigned areas and works with stakeholders to rank projects. They also conceive and perform new diagnostic and proactive analysis of CRM-related data trends and patterns. They work on projects independently and with full oversight of programs within the assigned area, as well as conceive program improvements by interfacing with customers, solicit input from stakeholders and manage implementation.

Desired candidate obtains a background working in the SaaS Collaboration, Communication or Document Management relative industries with a passion for understanding the buyer persona and developing new revenue programs or customer marketing channels to optimize online buyer subscription (freemium) revenue. Desired candidate will also have a strong technical aptitude, attention for detail, comfortable manipulating customer data and a proven track record with ability to draw out ways to optimize the customer base, by upselling, cross-selling and add-on revenue programs.

Principle Responsibilities:
- Generates and manages marketing automation emails and mail drops, plus other virtual communications to free users, free trailers or prospects and customers selling value of SaaS products (sold online) to consumers and small businesses
- Analyzes customer and prospect database and current customer communications to improve effectiveness; directly responsible for conceiving of and copywriting emails, direct mail pieces, banners and desktop notifications
- Employs a data driven, heavy test & learn methodology / approach to all marketing programs.
- Leverages demand generation tools (Marketo) to develop new, innovative ways to communicate with prospects to drive demand and retention through email/web content engagement.
- Manages all aspects of campaign program lifecycle. This includes interfacing with various teams to from end-to-end, partnering with design teams, developers and editors, quality assurance team and MA implementation managers to deploy new communications: nurture/drip emails, product & account internal banners and desktop notifications.
- Manages hypothesis plans, reporting back on campaign test analysis and reporting on revenue.
- Leader of strategy & execution of new marketing automation campaigns, concepts & programs while managing stakeholders across projects to program completion and success.
- Serving as a team mentor, leader of change – teaching junior program managers leveraging MA best practices & strategy while being a team player working to extend knowledge and history to team or overall success.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years experience in business and marketing
- Successful track record in managing online revenue generation programs to a customer or prospect base using email marketing and other online channels; direct mail experience helpful, and B2C Marketing experience preferred
- Must have Marketo experience or similar Marketing Automation system certificates.
- Excellent computer skills; knowledge of HTML desired, and familiarity with XSLT a plus
- Database knowledge a plus; ability to formulate queries (SQL) and some programming knowledge are helpful
- Managing ESP/ISP partner relations and email deliverability
- Solid writing and proofreading skills (specifically online marketing)
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to take accountability for this area of our business, be a self-starter and be able to work with the team
- Strong work ethic; a solid track record of meeting project deadlines and satisfying customers; ability to communicate professionally and prioritize/manage commitments
