Spanish Translator/Proofreader

Come and work for a well respected non profit in downtown DC! This client is one of the largest membership organizations in the United States! Immediate need for a seasoned Spanish Translator/Proofreader, to sit on-site in Washington, DC.

Working with the managing editor, the Translator/Proofreader will provide a thorough review of all original content produced by the editorial team. The position requires fluency in English and Spanish, with exceptionally strong communication and editing skills in Spanish, a deep understanding of Hispanic culture and issues, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. Translate, review and proofread assignments as needed (English & Spanish). Assist in managing the workflow of translation projects from beginning to end.

Responsibilities include:
* Documenting all facts in every article, including but not limited to: dates, statistics, names, geographical references, addresses, historical facts, and the personal information of sources quoted in articles, such as DOB, occupation, and national origin.
* Communicating in English or Spanish with sources quoted in the article to verify quotes and personal information. If original quote or information was furnished in English, checking the Spanish translation against the English for accuracy.
* Correcting style, based on the client's style guide.

Requirements:
* Completion of a Bachelors degree in linguistics or related field(s).
* Native fluency in English and Spanish languages. Excellent grasp of Spanish language grammar, syntax, spelling and punctuation.
* At least 2-3 years of professional experience in translations or related field.
* Proficient with CAT Tools, Translation Memories and/or Translation Workflow Management tools desirable.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, OUTLOOK) and PDF editing tools.
