Software Test Engineer

Job Description
Execute test plans and perform ad-hoc testing for commercial PC products in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
• Performs intermediate level testing tasks requiring strong analytical skills, interpretation of test cases and scripts, planning & scheduling of technical activities
• Configures PC hardware, software and firmware as required for testing.
• Involved in the investigation & resolution of problems
• Write/update Test Plans from specifications/requirements
• Write/update Test Plans based on adhoc test plans, previous issues, usability/experience
• Develop/Execute debug strategies to assist in root cause of complex issues
• Develop/Execute ad hoc testing strategy - familiar with directed ad hoc
• Operates independently and effectively, self-starter
• Perform intermediate level testing and ad hoc testing
• Responsible for and manage timely, quality test deliverables.


Qualifications & Skills
• Associates Degree
• 3-6+ years of relevant software test experience
• Knowledge of test processes and defect logging
• Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and self-manage multiple project tasks
• Strong understanding of all major aspects of computer HW and FW/SW & knowledge of multiple platforms
• Experience with updating system BIOS and modifying BIOS settings
• Experience with PCMark and SysMark
• Troubleshooting experience to isolate failures to the subsystem level
• Working knowledge of all Microsoft Operating Systems – DOS, Win XP, Vista, Win 7, Win 8 and Win 10
• Working knowledge of batch files and Windows Registry
• Networking Skills
o LAN
o MS Exchange Server
o Wi-Fi including Access Point Configuration
• Knowledge of Advanced Power Options, Windows Power Test
• Advanced Skills highly desirable:
o Experience with AMT/ME, FFS, SCT
o Understanding the differences between power states (MS & Intel)
o Remote access of the UUT
