Our oil and gas client is seeking a software QA tester to join their team for 1+ years, in an ongoing, long-term contract.  Located in North Houston, at Beltway 8 and JFK Blvd, this postion is a full-time, onsite role, and is offering a rate up to max $50/h, depending on experience. (Of course, the strongest candidates always come in a bit lower than max.)  Please read the description below, and if you are interested and qualified, please submit your application. DETAILS:

Design, implement, and test software solutions fulfilling the users' requirements. Breakdown specifications into well-defined development tasks, analyze risks, plan contingencies, estimate tasks, create plan for delivery. Proactively schedule design and code reviews. Continuously update technical and domain knowledge and skills. Mentor junior developers. Proactively analyze and investigate existing architecture & implementation for functionality & performance improvements. 

Under general supervision, leveraging competencies in the technical software testing and development processes, this position will execute and evaluate software tests and learn the automated test tools. Helpul in choosing and implementing technologies in designing, coding, testing, usability, trouble-shooting and documenting engineering systems applications. Develop test strategies used in the automated regression testing of these systems. Usually works on projects of moderate scope and complexity. Assists in the development of assignments and schedules. May require instruction and guidance during certain phases of application systems analysis. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations. Consequences of error are easily measured and can be confined.

Skills typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Geoscience, Petroleum Engineering or similar discipline, and 2+ years of related experience, or through 6 years of software testing and/or development experience.

Completion of a masters degree is preferred.
