Social Media and Publications Specialist

Ready to put your experience as a writer of social media to good use? This is a terrific, long term, contract opportunity in a professional and welcoming environment.

In this position you will, in conjunction with the Communication Manager, be responsible for maintaining this organization's presence on social media channels, electronic newsletters and selected print publications.

You will also provide social media and editorial support to the Communications Manager, Copywriter, and the Marketing team.

You Will:

1. Execute a comprehensive social media strategy, working to use social media opportunities to promote the organization, its membership and programs/products.

2. Be responsible for development of electronic newsletters and select print publications, inncluding serving as copy editor and production coordinator.

3. Supports the MarComm team as needed with writing, editing, proofing and content

4. Serve as the organization's social media “community manager,” leading interaction between fans and followers.

5. Monitor social media trends and evaluate new tools/channels to appropriately leverage activities to help meet Marketing and Communications goals.

6. Develop and execute social media strategy by maintaining company's presence on multiple social media channels, including but not limited to Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Post timely content regularly.

7. Strategize with MarComm team (including Marketing Coordinators) and others across the organization to determine ways that social media could apply to current initiatives and promotional/sales goals.

8. Provide regular reports to demonstrate the impact of social media on overall MarComm efforts.

9. Manage editorial schedules in conjunction with appropriate staff across program areas; media opportunities to promote the Association, its membership and programs/products.

10. Attends regular editorial planning meetings with Communications Manager, offering input where appropriate

11. Prepares articles if directed; secures approvals as needed.

12. Copy edits all articles, reviews content for clarity and reader-friendliness and recommends changes to authors and Editor. Coordinates WebTrendz links and redirects as needed.

13. Coordinates design, layout dissemination of newsletters.

14. Prepares select articles for newsletters and other publications.

15. Supports MarComm team in the area of content development when needed; may include articles, brochure copy, Power Points, speeches, talking points, video script writing

and related.

You should have:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related field required

• Three to five years communications and/or journalism and Social media experience

• Experience with social media tracking and measurement tools

• Project management /publication calendar experience preferred

• Must be able to work independently but also as part of a team

• Detail oriented

• Excellent English grammar and writing skills required

• Microsoft Office skills required

• Experience in the medical and/or non-profit experience a plus
