Our client is looking for a social media specialist to start ASAP and work 10-12 weeks onsite in Alexandria.

Looking for a social media savvy go-getter with a creative mindset and passion for digital media, online marketing and public relations. The ideal candidate will be a social media specialist who is immersed in digital media culture and trends. While the position will be focused on tactical execution, we hope s/he will help to lay the framework for a cohesive social media strategy in support of the entire organization and its strategic goals. Our client is big on Facebook, active on Twitter, growing on LinkedIn and a little less “out there” on Instagram and Pinterest – though we’re looking to grow all presences of the organization and they need a nimble expert to continue their success.

Responsibilities include culling the news of the day, effectively sharing member benefits, marketing campaigns and participating in the real-time dialogue with their fans and followers. Our client needs someone who has an eye for analytics and can help demonstrate the value of their digital media strategy to their internal clients.

Additionally, someone that enjoys a fast-paced, multi-project work environment. S/he will play a key role in public relations and marketing efforts by being the point person on social media execution with guidance from most, if not all of the Marcom department staff which runs its social media properties “by committee.”

Responsibilities
• Coordinate posts across various social networks using HootSuite (and potentially a future-state email automation platform)

• Write and edit social media posts with an impeccable eye for detail

• Analyze social media and messaging success with both metrics and qualitative anecdotes

• Curate “house-made” content for distribution across social networks

• Perform daily external media monitoring for relevant “news of the day”

• Engage fans and followers in real-time conversation

• Establish an active presence on little-used social networks

• Engage members of the media through social media

• Accompany Marcom staff to meetings pertinent to the execution of social media activity

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience

• Agency experience preferred

• HootSuite expertise

• Knowledge of project management/task scheduling software such as Basecamp

• Strong track record of capturing and analyzing social media monitoring/metrics

• Strong analytical, writing and verbal communication skills

• Ability to handle many projects simultaneously and work independently

• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Strong project management skills

• Spirit of collaboration and sense of humor

• Familiarity with website content management and email automation
